Hawks - Panthers

Marcel Goc

Brandon Pirri
4th 2014

Hawks get Center help now and with the depth they can live without Goc when he is out with injury.
Pirri was a Tallon pick and developed nicely. Just not suited to the role the Hawks need him to be. Could play NHL as soon as this year.

Looking at pirri's stats he seems intriguing,

Only thing is I haven't seen pirri play a game at all, so I am not sure how to gauge it.

Goc plays a quiet but extremely efficient game for us. Faceoffs and great two way ability. He won't light the lamp but he does all the little things right. Great player.

Not quite sure about this one, great trade proposal.

This trade would probably never happen but Pirri deserves a chance in the NHL, one of the best if not the best player on a ****ty Icehogs team. He always looks dangerous in the offensive zone, for some reason he's just not on Quenneville's love boat.

Only thing Pirri can't really do is win a faceoff.

Other than that, he's money on offense, and underrated defensively. He's a guy that could (and should) play an offensive role in the NHL right now.

I don't know if this trade really fills a need for the Panthers, but I would do it.

Pirri couldn't find the defensive end to save his life ,, Guy is not underrated defensively he has no defensive game

That is why Kruger passed him on depth chart and has held down spot in NHL

No from Panthers end. Not having Goc is killing us right now as it is.

Have seen 1 Panthers game and I don't think missing Goc holds your team down. I know he is good, that's why I want him on my team

I never agree with BWC, but this is absolutely correct. Pirri is a mess in his own zone, and as a centre, you have to be some kind of decent defensvely.

well, I think his D isn't underrated. I don't think it's that bad as others said.

All I'm going to say is that Pirri should be used for his offense, not his D. Thought this could be fair value.

Sorry Hawk fans but Pirri's defensive game is >>>>> than Andrew Shaw's by a country mile. With proper linemates he'll make a fantastic 2C in the NHL.

Its not a horrible offer but I dont see it doing enough to help the Panthers either. Goc is still an important part of the Panthers roster. Pirri might be decent but he's not such an upgrade on what we already have in our prospect system right now. I'd personally rather just keep Drew Shore up as he's only got 3 fewer pts in the AHL as Pirri and he's got better size, can win faceoffs and play 2-way hockey. If that pick were maybe upgraded to a 2nd rounder, it may be something more to consider.

Pirri shouldn't be seen as prospect, more as player you could use in the NHL as soon as today

There really isn't a significant difference between the two defensively.

Brandon Pirri is and should be more comfortable at centre; he's been a centre his entire career, including he past 3 years in the AHL. Andrew Shaw's been mostly a winger at the Pro and NHL level, and by the way he's been playing, it's pretty clear why.

I'm not saying Brandon Pirri doesn't try to play defense, per se, he just clearly doesn't have any idea what he's doing in his zone. He needs alot of work in that regard and until he shows significant improvement, he'll find it hard to stick in the NHL. I agree with DistgruntledHawkFan when he says Pirri would be better off at wing.

I wouldn't mind bringing Pirri to the Panthers but absolutely not for Goc

I definitely see a deal going down this year between these two teams.

I wish Shore would get more playing time to see how he does before thinking of moving Goc.

Need a defensively responsible center in the bottom six.

Hawks have no 2nd & 3rd this year. I don't see them trading their 1st this year. Maybe for the 2014 1st but not for this years and not for a rental they most likely won't be able to keep.

That's why I think Goc makes a lot of sense for the Hawks. Fills the need perfectly and giving up Pirri + Beach or something like this would be totally worth it. Not sure how much Dale still likes his picks
