If Joe is fired it will happen soon after the season. They won't drag it out. Finding his replacement could take some time, but at least we'll know they're starting from square one.

If Joe is staying, obviously we'll know that pretty soon as well.

So far now, other than the obvious possibility of Desjardins, I'll throw out a guy with Dallas ties.

Derek Laxdal

I don't know if he's ready, and endorsing him as the pick is the last thing I'm doing. I just know I've seen his name get head coach buzz in the past.

He coached the Idaho Steelheads for 5 seasons including winning an ECHL championship. I think he and most people were probably surprised Dallas/Texas passed on him to replace Gulutzan in Austin.

After he didn't get that job, he left for the Edmonton Oil Kings in the WHL, and he's built them to one of the best teams in the league. They won the WHL Championship last year, and they're up 3-2 on Calgary right now in the West Finals. They could be playing Portland again for a chance at repeating.

He's got an impressive resume for sure, but I'm not exactly excited about getting a guy with pro experience only at the ECHL level.
****ing hate Laxdal.

Well Curt Fraser is the guy that makes obvious sense, having worked in the Red Wings organization for so many years..

I was more so trying to see what the list of coaches that could be hired not who the GM would prefer or what not. Like which are currently unemployed or what not.

See you later.

It tells me that Glen Gulutzan will not coach the Stars next season. # RDS

The way he handled Fraser deserves this firing. Thank god. Here's hoping you never get a job coaching again.

Doesn't seem that harsh to me. He's not a good coach, why should he get another coaching job?

Can't understand getting that worked up about ice time for an AHL player.

I know some people were interested in him:

Homer on Laviolette: "Peter is the coach ...I expect him to lead us back into the playoffs next year." that ends the speculation.

He deserved to be fired for lots of reasons, Fraser was one of them. Don't care why they canned him as long as he's gone. It's a good day to be a Stars fan it has seen the end of Niewendyk and will soon see the end of Gulutzan.
