Ya I like that Fraser and Valley are staying, that is the best way this could have played out in my mind.

I think this clinches Curt Fraser as the next head coach.

If they were going to bring in AV from Vancouver or Lindy Ruff or Dave Tippet or some other veteran HC they would let him pick his own assistants - there wouldn't be this holdover from the last regime.

Nah it may say they want Willie but won't let him choose his assistants or it may indicate Fraser is the guy. Unless they've talked to others and Ruff or whomever has signed off on Fraser. Valley would be the guy regardless of whomever coaches. I generally think that's more of an organizational decision than a head coach choice.

Not too sure about that. Valley is one of the best goalie coaches around and has done great stuff with Campbell/Lehtonen development. His work is primarily with the goalies so his influence in team strategy is probably minimal, thus not affecting his standing with a new head coach. Though that is just speculating on his role with the team. With Fraser, a new coach is getting a member that can fill in service at a variety of different coaching roles. Namely, someone who has helped the powerplay tremendously in his first year here.

“@mayorNHL: Rumors already swirling #NHLStars will court #Coyotes coach Dave Tippett. IMO - never should have fired him in the first place.”

Not sure how credible but it's interesting.

If they were going to offer Fraser the job, wouldn't they have announced that as well? Why wait?

Am I the only one who is not a fan of the style of play Tippett's teams play? Ugh, no let's not replay this dance again.

He wins... How do you think a Tippett team will look with a goalie of Kari's talent level?

That's true. It would be good for the franchise in terms of winning, but damn is his style boring as hell.

On the other hand, all these young defensemen being groomed in Tippett's style could really be beneficial.

No thanks.

Outside of the fact that I don't think he's that great of a coach, I have no desire to see anyone from that freaking 1999 team around this team atm.

Maybe they're just waiting for Lindy to be done at the WC's so they can announce him as the HC

Man we'd win under Tippet, but his game is so damn boring. Bring in somebody who value possession and cycling. Ruff's system would actually be pretty good.

Lots of puck retention and lots of collapsing.

I just don't see the style of play that best fits our current players, ie an attack transition, north/south game fitting at all with Tippett's puck possession slow it down and clog up the middle style he prefers. We simply put don't have the personnel to fit what he has historically done and trying to force that on this group is going to create even more problems. No thank you on Tippett and I'm not too gung ho on Carbonneau either for the same reasons.
