Ruff was in Buffalo so long for a reason. Would be just fine with him here.

We saw what Tippett could do before, wouldn't mind going back to that.

No interest in Torts, we need a longer-term guy behind the bench.

I don't want Tortorella near this team. Of the established coaches possible here my list goes something like:

Vigneault

Ruff
Tippett

Tortorella

You forgot Marc Crawford in between Tip and Torts.

Are the Stars any less desirable to head coach candidates since the Stars have retained Curt Fraser and announced he will serve as an assistant coach? Meaning of course the new HC could only bring one of his own guys in. Or will Fraser be like Stu Barnes was and just participate in practices and watch from above.

To me, Tom Gaglardi seems to be the kind of guy that wouldn't spare a dime when it comes to paying a head coach that all the execs wanted(if that coach does exist). Are there payroll limits for the coaching and equipment staff?

Sorry if this is unrelated, when the AAC was built, wasn't there a modest mindset in regards to the Stars' locker room and lounge? Do you think with the new owner that maybe soon the Stars could get any kind of a remodel or is it top notch already?

I am sorry about all the questions. It is pretty much all I do on here.

Anyone have a prediction for the Stars' next head coach?

Somebody of relevance to the team tweeted about this recently, but I can't remember who. And IIRC, they said that the Stars have it pretty good. I tried finding it, but came up empty.

I don't think so. Some teams have 3 assistants on their staff. If Gaglardi wanted to spring for it and Nill thought it was appropriate the new HC could bring in 2 of his own guys.

I'm pretty sure it was the exact opposite of modest. It's not retarded luxurious like the Mavs supposedly is but it wasn't built with modesty in mind from what I recall.

According to Modano, the Red Wings' plane can't even make it to the west coast without stopping to refuel.

Dreger's hashed out that list so many different ways, I'm not sure he really has any clue.

Some people up in Edmonton saw MacT talking to Paul Maurice last week and when he was called out on it he said that the Oilers would have an announcement about the head coach position sometime in the near future.

Wow. One season with the Oilers as HC and see ya? Interesting.

As for Dallas, Dreger is in the know of who is talking to who but he's going based off what his sources tell him. Can't totally blame the guy for changing his list when he's getting new info all the time.

If Ruff does end up being our next head coach I'd be just fine with that. He's not a bad choice for that position at all.

Whenever I think of the Oilers I think of the typical person who constantly buys new muscle enhancing pills/protein powders and expects amazing results in a few days. IMO that team needs consistency.

Guest visitor just browsing your board but I thought I'd point out to you guys before I go, Edmonton is looking for an assistant to help Krueger. He still is the head coach and will be next season.

And they expect to get a big name coach to come on as an assistant?

Stars hope to hire a coach before the Draft. J.Nill will meet with D.Eakins this week and as @MikeHeika suggests, likely Vigneault as well.

Mark Stepneski ‏@StarsInsideEdge 1h
Stars GM Jim Nill said he is getting close to hiring new coach. Doing a couple more interviews tomorrow.

Im reasonably sure Dallas Eakins will get a 2nd interview with Van, but I'm told he hasn't had it yet. Stars and Rangers will be in mix too.
As for where Gulutzan might end up.

Nill on coaching search

Quote:
If there are some candidates whose teams are still playing

“Yeah, there are some guys still and there are some guys whose teams have finished up and they’re still going through the process of exit interviews. So, we’re just taking our time and waiting for things to happen.”
Quote:
On if the new coach needs to be a veteran guy

“It’s not a prerequisite. A great example is Mike Babcock. He had to come from somewhere. They just don’t fall out of the sky. So, you want to be careful. Yes, you want experience. It’s important but there are some coaches who have been in the minors who have gained experience maybe doing better jobs coaching in the minors than up top sometimes, so we’re looking at all different angles of coaches and all different types of personalities.”
