There was reports out of Vancouver the players ran the team.

Here's something from the story I posted the link to last night.

Stevens and Vigneault are not entirely dissimilar but there are differences. One is that Stevens might be a bit more of a hard-charger, not exactly a Tortorella but more knuckling than Vigneault, who during some stressed in-game moments would not even join the team in the locker room and leave it to the Sedins, Ryan Kesler, and Kevin Bieksa. Stevens’s boss in Los Angeles, Darryl Sutter, helped bring cohesion to a loose squad last year.

However, even if the Rangers choose to offer Vigneault the job, he may have a tough choice to make.

Multiple sources told ESPNNewYork.com that Vigneault is a top candidate for the vacant coaching job with the Dallas Stars. He interviewed with general manager Jim Nill before flying to California to meet with the Rangers.

Thanks. That sounds a bit odd but on the other hand I could see a logical reason for Vigneault doing that.

On Insider Trading, Bob McKenzie said Dallas is heavily interested in AV, and despite them wanting to a coach in place before the draft, the Rags could end up stretching their decision out.

Alain Vigneault has indicated to the Dallas Stars that he no longer wants to be considered for the head coaching position there. #TSN
So I guess you guys get Torts?

Sounds like it's a done deal with NYR. Oh well.

Props to TJ for calling something would happen today.

I understand that you guys don't like Torts, but if the stuff about AV leaving the room and leaving it up to the team to work things out with each other is true I would rather have someone with Torts mentality.

So he basically shut our door without anything being official (that we know of) with the Rangers?

There's gotta be an agreement in place then, or else he could be really screwing himself over.

I honestly think you guys will love Torts for the first 3-4 years. He isn't an awful coach at all, in fact I think he's a pretty damn good coach...he just has a shorter shelf life than most coaches. There's a misconception that he's bad with young players, but it isn't true. He's a big reason why Callahan, Stepan, McDonagh, Del Zotto, Hagelin, Staal, Girardi, Dubinsky, and Anisimov are the players they are today.

Very good transitional coach. I think it'd be a great hire.

Didn't Nill say he'd like a coach that could run a team for 10 years? That's the opposite of Torts.

There has to be some real interest in talking with Blashill given how long this search has been drawn out.

Still, ouch how its being put out there. First Eakins cancelling the appointment, now Vigneault saying he was no longer interested in the Stars job, just sounds bad the way it is being reported.

Like I said before, AV is a great coach, his positive highly outweighs his negatives, but his two negatives is he SITS on leads big time, and that he is very bad with young players, he refuses 2 play them, and when he DOES, if the player makes ONE SMALL MISTAKE, he will sit not for a game, but for a week.

Zack kassian had 5 goals in 7 games with the sedins to start the year, he had ONE bad game in the 8th game, and then played on the 2nd line, then 3 more bad games out of 7 and he was a fourth liner for awhile.

Thanks for the props. Bitter sweet though. I really wanted AV. We really wanted him. All he had to do was sign on the dotted line. We were so close. It was us or NYR for a bit. He was waiting to see what NYR said. They were set on someone else ss of yesterday and it appeared AV was ours. Not sure what happened in between then and now. Possibly he just flat out does not want to coach us - and possibly didnt all along. Either way Im disappointed.

He met with the Rangers owner today in NYC. I'd imagine he got wined and dined and promised a **** ton of money.

Meh it's not that bad. Eakins was offered EDM job already and Vigenault chased the NY spotlight.

Sounds more like he chased the money.

I'm told NYR had a very substantial offer on the table for Vigneault...meeting with Dolan might close the deal.

Yeah not a huge fan of twitter blowing up with that tweet, just feels like FU Dallas instead of what it probably really is, which NY offering him a ton of money.
