Yeah, let's not blow up the team when our young big star is developing.

THAT TOTALLY HASN'T HAPPENED BEFORE.

...it was not possible for a team outside the Top 5 to win in the past. It now is.

Value wise, how close am I?

To Ottawa: P.K. Subban
To Montreal: Mika Zibanejad, Simon Despres, Stephane Da Costa
To Pittsburgh: Ottawa's 1st round pick 2013, Sergei Gonchar

1) montreal's not going to trade Subban
2) If by some crazy situation he gets traded it's not going to be to a team they play 6X per year

So many people in this thread undervalue Subban mightily. He could be on at least half of the NHL's top pairings.

Some advanced stats on Subban, comparing him to his peers.

See what i did there?

The guys has 3 nhls games and he's better than a 23 year 1st pairing dman yeah right.

For the trade Schultz Subban no way in hell does the habs accept this deal.

Anyway Subban is resigning soon and all those crap offers will stop.

If Subban were traded you'd be surprised at the biding war that would take place.

Depends what you mean by "Blown up". In 2 years Gionta, Markov, and Kaberle will be UFA, so decisions will need to be made. No doubt there will a trade or two between now and then as well, as well as a couple young players graduating to the Habs.

You could be right that in two years the Habs will look different than they do right now. I doubt the team will be "Blown up" though - these changes will be gradual.

Exactly, anywhere else, it wouldn't made the news. The media in Montreal towards the Canadiens is the equivalent of paparazzi in Hollywoood. Just watch RDS, these guys don't know jack if it's not hockey. Before the game, they talk about the Canadiens for 1h30, after the game, they talk about them for 2hrs. Then they got the sports ''news'' show called Sport 30 and they talk about them some more. You wake up in the morning, Canadiens talk in the newspapers. There can't be a fly landing in Montreal's locker room without the media making a fuss out of it. Anywhere else it would be nothing.

I don't know why Carolina is in this. Skinner is as young or younger than every player in that package except Miller, and put up more points and goals in the NHL at 18 than Miller did in the OHL at the same age

Look at the make up of Montreal`s D they have iced this season. You know what is missing? A two way minute eater and physical shutdown guy (Subban and Tinordi).

You know what isn't missing from our line-up? Another puckmover and another small, skilled forward.

Value is irrelevant to Montreal as this doesn't take our needs into account at all.

As a guy that hates both Boston and Montreal.

It's so obvious that
Subban>Hamilton
Seguin>Gally

Like, seriously, each Subban and Seguin have scored more goals than Games Played combined of Hamilton and Gally at the NHL level.

What a stupid comparison.

Awful, awful value for the Rangers. Bad value for the Hurricanes- especially when they're trying to win now.

Canadiens make out like bandits. Trade a malcontent d-man who looks like is going to have to go anyway and a decent-to-good prospect for:

A defensiveman who is currently the best playing d-man on the Rangers
A center who scored 31 goals and 63 points as an 18-year-old rookie on the Hurricanes.

I would think that Hall>Subban so the drafrt pick should be at least reversed.

Once again Edmonton doesn't need Subban and it's not enough to get Hall. A joke to think Edmonton would have to add a 2nd.

Our forward depth is already crappy. We can't afford to trade Hagelin and our future 3rd line C in Miller for a minor upgrade in Subban>Del Zotto

Del Zotto + may make sense but this proposal is way off. Montreal takes this deal by a landslide.
