About wrestling, is anyone from Pittsburgh going to World of Wheels tomorrow at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center? Shawn Michaels is signing autographs from 12-3pm
Shawn Michaels has been my favorite wrestler since I was a little kid, but idk if I'm going.
(That's 3 cry smilies for me today, I'm such a baby)
My favorite too. I saw the ad that he'll be there but I've never been into collecting autographs.
The only autograph I have is Merril Hoge. My uncle got me it ages ago. It's funny because when he gave it to me as a kid I had no idea who this white RB in the autographed picture was but then years later as a grown up I saw a white guy that was a former Steelers RB on ESPN and wondered if the autograph I had buried away somewhere was of him and sure enough it was.

That's awesome , yeah I've never really collected autographs except for when I bought a couple on eBay when I was younger.
I just thought it would be cool to meet these guys, I've met numerous wrestlers over the years, but never my all time favorite.
It would be hard to meet HBK though because I remember trying to go to the same exact show (World of Wheels) to meet Rey Mysterio, there were no places to park with cars in front of me looking for parking, it might be like that tomorrow. Then there's that long line, etc.

I guess we'll be seeing Lovejoy again? I'll be hoping for the return of Despres but it's understandable if he's out. You had to know the kid would have a tough time holding off Lovejoy aka the best 7th D-Man in the league.
It's too bad he plays for us, or he would be a #5 defensemen on most teams
Lovejoy is playing AGAIN over Despres? i kinda get why they will rest Despres, it' s a short season and many games are going to be played in the 3 months. Is it even official Lovejoy is in? you'd think Bort would get his chance. **** Lovejoy, he cost us the last game allowing his man to score. I'd say Eng should take a break because of his eye for a few games, let Despres and Bort play, although it's not wise to have a rookie pairing, but keep Lovejoy away from the ice.
I don't know if I can handle losing to another mediocre team - they better show up.
With the embarrassment of riches that we have, it really would be pathetic to drop 3 in a row to lousy teams who will probably not even qualify for the playoffs.
Cooke sounds so stupid there. Rookie scores game-tying goal at home against the defending champs with 5 seconds left after a previous goal was disallowed and is super pumped-up about it? lol frowned upon
jesus Cooke, you were once an extremely dirty player and you make public comments talking about frowning upon a guy, who did not try to blatantly injure a guy, like you have done countless time before, celebrating a big goal.
If Despres isn't going to play regularly, it was stupid for him to make the team. He's playing exactly how he played in WBS, which was flashes of strong play mixed-up with a decent bit of boneheadedness. Neither Shero or DB should be surprised by him if they paid the slightest bit of attention to him at WBS. They can't be like "****, I never figured Simon would skate back toward his goal and make a tight turn around his own net before losing the puck."
Despres not playing isn't going help overcome that. I'm not against the occasional scratch but if he's not going to play 8 of out every 10 games, there's no reason for him to be on the team. He's at a developmental stage where he needs to be playing as much as possible, especially since decision-making is his big bugaboo and it's next to impossible to simulate the game conditions to improve it. Makes losing Strait look even stupider since he's playing about 17 minutes a game for the Islanders and Despres can't even crack the Pens lineup but that seems par for the course early on this season.

Yeah there is a lot of anger here. I am part of it as well.
That said, even if we lose it really does not matter. And even in my anger I can step back and see the big picture. There is too much talent on this team to not make the playoffs. Hell, I will even go so far to say that this team will finish among the top five teams in total points in the NHL when all is said and done. They have not gotten less than 100 points in a few years, and those teams had similar issues for the most part.
And that is my problem. Who the hell cares if we lose to the Senators? I would take a half dozen losses in a row if it was because the Pens were actually putting a God Damn defensive system into place that will work in the playoffs. But instead we just roll up meaningless wins as we run and gun, just based on pure talent. So color me as not giving a flying fish if we end up winning tomorrow, or even crushing the Sens, if it is because of more of the same old stale losing stuff we have seen over and over and over.
I'll withhold judgement on the Despres issue until he's sent down. If/When that happens I'll be pissed. I don't have a problem with cracking the whip by benching him for a couple games here and there and getting Lovejoy or Bortuzzo some games.
