Watching highlights, it seem the puck is literally flying out of the net after every goal. Once in a while, if the puck hits the inside crossbar, it's OK if it flies out. It used to happen from time to time and it was fine. But not on every single goal like it is this season.
Even on empty net goals, the puck comes flying out of the net almost to the blue line. It's silly. It's very distracting and sometimes you can't even tell a goal was scored.

For 90 years, a goal meant that the puck crossed the goal line and stayed inside the net. If a puck was in the net, you knew that a goal was scored. All of a sudden, a goal now means the puck enters the net for 1/10th of a millisecond before it shoots out like a dart to the blue line. It just looks dumb.
Why even use a net if you want pucks flying everywhere? What is the point of the mesh?
I hate the green Gatorade bottles on top of the nets the most. They're way too distracting, and sometimes when the goalie gets scored on top shelf and the water bottle goes flying. It just looks stupid watching this distracting green water bottle flying in the air like a sling shot, somebody could get hurt.
I agree, rippling the mesh is no longer a valid statement, go back even into the 90's and it was considerably looser, it really showed off where the puck was placed, you'd see the mesh spring out of the top corner and you knew that **** was shelfed...and now we have HD. I think it's something that should be looked into. I'm a 27 year old goalie that has played in many different arenas, and it's one of those quirky things you notice, or maybe i'm just effed
Maybe an odd thing to complain about, but I've seen much less useful topics on here..logically I think it has some merit
