Haven't noticed this, but if true I agree with OP. no idea why he/she is getting a hard time for voicing displeasure with this.

The jerseys are too bright and I may have to get surgery to repair my sight. THANKS, NHL.

I'd guess the point of tight nets is to prevent pucks from getting stuck or players getting caught on the back of them. Good enough reason for me.

These new board ads are way too suggestive. Now I can't stop compulsively buying crappy delivery pizza and new car insurance policies.

I have to agree. It's not that big a deal but it's nice to have that puck in the net to say, yeah. A goal was scored.

There is a difference between the 2012 and 2013 nets?

I like the old 70's early 80's nets. The one pictured here behind Dryden. Loose hanging mesh. When goals were scored the net popped so there was no question.

The solution: Explosive netting

There would be no doubt if something was or wasn't a goal.

Or so there are no more "6 hole" goals.

I love when the netting is tight. It's cool to see the puck flying out right after a goal. I remember when I played minor hockey it was always a treat when we got new nets with the tight netting.

Speaking with someone who makes the nets for the NHL (my company is the main rink equipment supplier for the league), he explained to me that a lot of people would only knot around the perimeter every 16 inches or so to save time (it takes 6-8 hours to string these nets). The guys that I work with won't do that, they'll knot every loop along the perimeter to ensure strength and sturdiness. This may be what you're seeing as a result.

Lets be cool and pick on a guy who came here for a friendly discussion. Those idiots probably get picked on in real life and take it out on someone from behind their computer.
I agree with you op. many times you can't tell if the puck has gone in the net. It makes more sense to have the net fly back like the 70's 80's. I remember scoring goals as a kid and the whole mesh would move.

loose mesh is lame. i like to see the puck shoot back out. it adds some pizzaz to goal scoring.

Anyone notice the new shade of blue being used on the blue lines?

Bothering the hell out of me. Hate THAT shade of blue.

Exactly. And even when you can tell a goal has been scored, it just looks downright stupid. Is the NBA going to put a lid under their nets so the ball bounces out into the crowd after every basket? That would be equally stupid.

There was an empty net goal where the puck literally flew out of the net almost to the blue line. Beyond ridiculous.

To be honest, I actually agree with you .

I dont like seeing the puck rocket out because I cant tell if it was in or hit a post and the audio just didnt pickup on tv for whatever reason.

Nothing is more distracting then the ice girls during intermission. Although I'd love to keep them around.

There's a point to this. Nobody should wish pucks shooting back out of the net, just means more goal reviews. A solution might be a loose inner net to catch the pucks.
