2005 Draft

I just wanted to get some opinions on what you all think if we fall in this situation.
We will most likelly have a draft like 10-15th spot so when our pick comes lets say there is someone available like Tukonen who is said to be top 5 yet not a single golie has been picked would you rather we choose the player or go for a golie and if so which one?
Personally i want us to get Rask dont like the other golies to much....

I would want us to draft the best player available, be it goaltender or skater.

I do have some people in mind that I hope fall down to us, but ultimately, I want the player that the Kings rate the highest. Need can always be addressed via trade.

Well i guess what you say is true yet if say we have 11th pick again and the 8th best rated person is there and Rask is 11th rated i much rather go with him and achieve maybe a tiny bit lower ranking yet need

The nice thing is that there're a lot of good centers and defensemen who could fall into that range this year. If Kopitar or Kindl fell to us I wouldn't cry over losing out on Crosby.

I forget this every year come draft time, but we always draft the player that has dropped the most

04- Tukonen Slipped
03- Brown Slipped
02- Gebeshkov slipped

Of course, I will forget this by the time we draft again

I doubt you'd forget if Crosby "slipped"

IF there is a draft, I doubt it will go based on last year's order. There will be some weighted lottery I think. I see us picking more in the 7-10 range.

I'm still wary about taking a goaltender in the first round. Look at last year. None of those guys have really improved. We're looking at these guys making an impact at least five years down the road, if not more.

IMO we need a top flight center much more badly. While I don't see us with a shot at Crosby or Brule, there should be some good guys left when we pick.

Kopitar has been rising, and seems to be a mature young player who I really think could be a good one.

Skille. Can play all three postions and is a skilled, gritty, leader type

O'Marra-Very similar to Skille has a killer wrister

Durand- Second best playmaker in the draft to Crosby. Does the dirty work and is a fast fluid skater.

If it's a weighted lottery, we have a chance of drafting at the end of the first round. Most everyone is talking top 15, but we could draft at the bottom 15 . Let's hope that there's a season first.

And Robin Big Snake! It could give a whole new definition of a farm team!

Okay... that was bad.

I think this once we should draft either a Center or Goalie, we are just so deep at the wings, I say we pick center or goalie first then we can gamble some picks on upside or highest talent later on.

I don't like it when the Kings gamble....see Karlsson, Steckel, Boyle (TBD). Not to open that can of worms or anything.

I don't think anyone does. With Brown and Tambellini, I think it was ok to gamble with one of three first rounders.
But I don't want it to happen again for quite a while

Have to agree. We need a center and that's what we should go after.

As far as goalies, right now we need someone seasoned. I don't think that is a high priority for the club as far as drafting early.

In all seriousness, I think we need another bluechip defenseman.

Why? What do you see as our current problems with what we have in Manchester now and on the Kings if and when vs going after a center?
