I think he sucks...okay above average but who can remember him stealing games consistently? I'll eat these words if he proves to be otherwise this short season but I doubt that'll happen...I sure hope he does.

Good goalies are very hard to come by for this team. At least they've given Dubz a lot of time to develop and giving him the no.1 position is sure to boost his confidence. Come on Dubz

I use to think he wasn't the guy but now I'm not so sure...he has improved a lot and isn't the same goalie as old Dubnyk. I'm more willing to defend him and give him this season to show his stuff.

He does not suck.

That P.A goal was too easy. If he had fully knelt down it would not have gone in. Even the Backlund goal was badly covered.

IMO this season should be do or die for him. Our D has not been great, but that is when he needs to step it up. Weak goals in the 1st destroy the teams morale.
I agree with all of this. He really seems to have issues with scrambles and pucks in his feet.

Today's game was indicative of what he can do on an exceptional night. 1st star performance in my books. This, being HFboards, will change when the Oilers lose the next game.

Why does someone always post a Dubnyk question after every game? let the season play out and see how it goes first.

The guy has given up 4 brutal goals in 6 games this year. He has been giving up brutal goals regularly since his Kamloops days so, that will likely never change. One of those brutal goals lost us a game and, as the season progresses, his bad goals will cost us more games and maybe even a playoff spot.

A good NHL goaltender should be giving up a bad goal once every four or five games - Dubnyk gives up way too many.

We need a better goalie. Dubnyk is a good backup.

Stats don't really mean ****. The guy has given up 4 brutal goals in 6 games. Until he figures out a way to stop that, he is no better than a backup, IMO.

I don't want to harp on Dubnyk. Goaltenders take the longest to develop and maybe Dubnyk will become a star goaltender. I have my doubts though. The guy seems to not have the intensity that alot of great goalies have he seems to flop all over alot and his athleticism is kind of questionable he seems "stiff" out there alot of the time. I do hope Dubnyk can become a star, I want all hockey players to become as successful as possible but as of right now I am not feeling it coming. I wish the Oilers could purchase a real good goalie. More than anything else that is the change I would like to see the most.

Which single goal caused the team to lose a game this year?

Nov 10, 2011 - Caron, Sequin, Lucic...Oilers were heading into the game as a "top" team [still early in season] and after this game, team started falling apart...and that falling down on Seguin goal was brutal

Jan 2, 2012 - Toews, Hayes...even in victory, 2 of the 3 goals were weak.

Feel free to prove otherwise
That is three goals!

According to the photographic memory goalie experts on this Board he gives up a bad goal every game.

Now look at the top 10 Goalies Goals given up last year. I am sure you will see ZERO bad Goals.

It is embarrasing that fans think a goalie who has delivered 25 of his last 26 games with 3 goals or less.
(Fraser says he only gave up 3 legal goals in Calgary) A chance to win every game but SJ game.
To people this standard is not Acceptable?

The level of delusional perspective on this one is Historic!

To argue against these numbers with unsupported facts.
I have worked with lots of people who are not willing to say they are wrong.
They would role out some trite unsupported OPINION.
Apperently most of them visit this board.

Don't bother. This was a guy who argued Khabibulin is wildly underrated.

dubnyk has played 2 excellent games in a row, the goal that went in vs col wasnt really his fault, he cheated to play the pass thinking his dman wouldnt let the player get to teh net. he trusted his d and got burned.

the goal last night was deflected off a hand to an open guy, again someone that should have been covered by his d man. even the goals in SJ werent all his bad. you cant leave an elite sniper wide open in the slot with time to shoot. not many goalies are stopping that.

overall he has been very good and i expect him to only improve.

Be weary guys, we all say the great devan after 10 games last year.
Regression will be coming, that 6 goals wasn't a fluke. The guy is very slow, goes down early constantly and in my opinion will probably be our backup for a while.

I don't think he is as bad as the rest of HF does, but certainly dont think he is as good as some here do.

Devan's problem hasn't be falling apart. It's been that he only been a starter when the season is over.

Dubnyk had a great game last night. He competed hard for 60+ minutes between the pipes which is, sadly, unusual.

I wish he wasn't quite so lackadaisical about playing the puck but last night was one of his most complete efforts.

Even if stats don't matter(which they do), there can be no debate that wins matter. And Dubnyk has 4 in 6GP this season. That isn't bad at all.

I've always liked Dubnyk and though all he need was time to develope. His early career was handled terribly by Oiler management. The year after the Roadrunners were shut down was basically a year off for him; which set his development back by at least a year. We should of considered an out of the box solution that would wee him play significant minutes, such as sending him to Europe etc.

I think he's okay, not a super-star, not a backup, but capable of doing the job.
He uses his body well, and is in position for most shots. He has a habit of being in the butterfly almost all the time (which makes him predictable), and he could use some speed in his lateral movements.
