Same with O'Reilly. Under normal circumstances I wouldn't even consider trading him because I love him but with those negotiating problems there might be no alternative.

I mean if Niederreiter and/or O'Reilly pull a Turris, I seriously can't believe either the Isles or the Avs really let one of them rot. You try to get the best for them.

By the way, from what I've read O'Reilly is NOT asking for 5 million $. Term seems to be the issue.
Nino and his agent, think Nino's too good for the AHL.
Nino's agent has already said in a post trade demand interview, that he expects tough contract talks in 2 yrs with Snow.

I expect Nino to be called up if an injury hits this season or make a strong push in next yr's training camp. I'm sure that Streit and Snow will smooth any ruffled feathers after Nino makes the team.

The Blues would love to have him and have the assets to get him, but can't afford him. The Blues have a few long term contracts they need to hand out soon. ROR would be a luxury the Blues can't afford.

Makes sense, I guess when PK scored that OT goal and skated past all his teammates to congratulate Price first means they hate each other.

They obviously hate each other, trade PK for whatever you can get ASAP!

It's off topic though, so no I would not trade Subban for RoR. In fact, I think Colorado would be foolish to trade him just like I think trading Subban would be dumb. You won't get fair value for him if you're trading him out of necessity because you can't get him signed.

Just bite the bullet and give him 5 million a year on a long term deal and see how he develops.

Something around Gardiner. Confident that Rielly will step in next season and we need to trade some D, Gardiner's the most valuable.

As an Oiler fan I'd jump all over a Gagner, Marincin, 2nd for ROR trade.

Gagner's not useless but he's only effective from the hash marks in. I think playing him at center emphasizes his weaknesses (lack of: speed, defensive awareness). Better suited to the wing, not sure if you have an opening there.

What the hell is with all these proposals for a "signed O'Reilly"? I image the Avs would much rather keep a signed O'Reilly who is overpaid by 2mil per in their opinion than trade him.

O'Reilly doesn't want to play for the Avs, reportedly.

Avs are not going to get the return they want for O'Reilly. Unsigned players never do.

That's a top 6 forward, a top 4 D, and most likely a mid-range 1st round pick. Aves fans would say otherwise, but I think that's the most anyone should ever offer for ROR.

Edit: Is ROR really a core player to Colorado at this point? Hasn't even played for you guys this year. You've got Landeskog, Duchene, Stastny, McGinn, etc. The top two center spots are occupied.
I'd probably do that deal.

And yeah, ROR is a part of our core. He was our best player last season.

They wouldn't just trade his 'rights' without working out the details of a contract. It would be smarter to hold out on him and/or sign him rather than actually trade him in that scenario.

I wouldn't... There is really no reason to take a package of lesser players for him, when our needs are based on quality NOT DEPTH.

I disagree when the player in question is several years away from UFA status. Any team that trades for him will announce a deal with him contemporaneous to any trade as the acquiring team will know his demands and likely will be given an opportunity to speak with his agent in advance.

I wouldn't worry about the Avs, they will get significant talent in return. The problem for Avs is that it will be difficult to acquire anyone that can do the same things that ROR can do for them.

Also: Oilers fans can just STOP with the offers. He is NOT going to be traded to a division rival

Unless we get a #2 defender, in getting EJ a partner you could almost say that that position being filled would do 'more' for the Avs.

Avs might have to do trade him within the division. How can you pass up on a great talent like Sam Gagner? Players like him don't come around too often.

Well, we certainly don't want Sam Gagner, and the Oilers are in our division..so I'm guessing it's not a joke.

We may not have anyone at O'Reilly's level that your interested in but we have 4 who are way above him, 5 mil for a guy with one decent season under his belt is insane. I am a fan of O'Reillys game but lets stop acting like he is an elite center, I put ROR in the same class as Gagner, maybe a little higher value because he brings some tools that Gagner lacks but he's not that far above him.

Not even if we are willing to part with Linus Omark?

I assumed he was part of the "Big 4"?

That changes everything.

O'Reilly + Barrie for Omark??? Would that be doable?
