One thing I kept saying last year as we approached the playoffs that still applies: you need a good power play OR an enforcer. Otherwise you're just begging to get your players run.

0-6 on the PP tonight has much more do with our PP rather than their PK, IMO.

5 guys standing in a single place ...

The guy with the puck needs to move toward the goal and break the box.
Brunner needs to stop taking shots from the boards.

Yes they are. But c'mon dude. It's obvious now. Been following this cluster**** for 5 games now. We lost Lidstrom and Holmstrom and Rafalski in the last 3 yrs. They were a pretty big part of our pp.

yep pretty easy to PK when we can't really make more than 2 passes in a row

I kind of foresaw a major decline in that area with Lidstrom retiring. Getting to see him against us on a regular basis, Im not sure non local fans ever really understood what a truly special player he was. Losng Stuart & Holmstrom d0idnt help, Holmsstrom was always a thorn in opur sides on the PP in fornt of the net.

Even though I like seeing our arch rival weakened, its kind of sad to see Lidstrom not playing anymore, he was a genuine joy to watch and good for the game, one of the truly great players to ever play the game. You had two of those back to back at captain, in Yzerman & Lidstrom.

Well our PP showed some signs of life last game. The fact it isn't even generating SOG indicates it's not going to challenge the best PKs in the league. I don't think you can take much more from this game.

I guess, also all those kills must have taken some gas out of their PKers like Hossa and Toews.

Kruger and Frolik are Hawks PK1 unit this year

There successful development at PK is allowing our stars to rotate on 2nd unit and keeping them fresh

Huge factor for Hawks success and improvement so far this year

It's the old adage:

Q: How do you guarantee a shutout against (insert team here)?
A: Volunteer to play a man down. They'll never score.

I was thinking that same thing. The problem with this team is we have no pure goal scorer and haven't since Franzen forgot how to play hockey and Zetterberg forgot how to score.

Agreed. It's like pass, wait... pass, wait... lose control of the puck... rinse, repeat. Brunner needs to switch to the RW down low for the PP, I think. Maybe get some quick backdoor snipes. Franzen needs to work on being more of a presence in front of the net. We need better screening for some point shots.

Agree on Brunner, I'd like to see him get some time on RW and see what he can do there.

Yeah kinda like a Rangers PP. And look who just joined us this year. Tom Renney, former Rangers coach.

Always nice to wake up from an in-game nap to see the replay of a goal!
