Keep in mind that, with the flu running through the team, they may need a goalie to start in an emergency very soon if Kari gets sick. They can't start Bachman. Bachman is as effective as laying a stick in front of the goal and going with six skaters.

Wow. Did not expect to see Campbell being called up, it will be interesting to see how he looks in the NHL though. Hopefully they ease him into a start, rather than throwing him into the fire.

Either way, he would be fine. Unknown call ups tend to do great the first time the league sees then. The Stars have been shut out by at least 15 no name rookies over the years.

thats because the stars have made a habit of shooting pucks towards the chest of goalies over the years

I doubt he'll play. In fact, barring significant injury, I wouldn't be surprised if Kari started every single remaining game including the b2bs. We're officially in the "This is no joke and my job is on the line" portion of the season for Gulutzan.

It's a credit to JC though that he's turned things around far enough that the team would be comfortable with him on the bench. It's also an indictment of Bachman.

Not surprising to me. I suggested it a month ago. Bachman is awful, Campbell could use the experience.

After benching Smith I'm surprised they haven't swapped him for Fraser yet. If they're just going to give him 10 minutes or less he needs to be in Austin regaining his scoring touch and some confidence. Fraser has earned an opportunity at some extended play.

I agree 100%. But I think Smith probably was one of the players Gully was talking about who went to the locker-room with the flu.

I was really disappointed with R. Smith last night, flu or not. He better get the puck security thing figured out in a hurry. It was shades of Brunnstrom in his own zone out there. Scoring or not scoring isn't going to be the determining factor in whether he stays up here -- his defense is.

Coaches will excuse some bad defensive play if a guy scores a lot, but Smith is in the unenviable position of losing more puck battles than he wins and also not producing any offense at all.

Do you guys think JC getting called up could possibly be to use him as trade bait? I know teams like WSH/Buffalo would love to have him.

His play in the U-18 Olympics and memorial cup wins in the OHL have made him a hot commodity, when they drafted him Mike Smith was "Future to a trade to TB" now a team like WSH or BUF could without a doubt use him for a future and both squads are rebuilding. Maybe Morrow or someone + JC and a return like Vanek or Ovi?

Definitely.

Every GDT it seems there's a blurb on how many teams sent scouts to our games.

I can see Campbell drawing some interest around the league.
