Are you seriously saying you wouldn't trade Dylan Olsen for Tyler Myers?

We've been over this extensively. Everyone said they wouldn't considering Myers is like 5M+ until 2019 if I remember what they were saying. Too lazy to look it up on my phone.

The only reason I wouldn't is because Myers' AAV is $5.5 million.

I forgot he signed an extension fairly recently, so I thought he was on a cheaper thing and asked the same question.

He's also locked up for like seven years. I'd give up serious assets for Tylers Myers. I'd even part with Oduya. You guys are bonkers.

He has been horrid this year, brt.

If he doesn't turn it around, you have a turnstile locked up for seven years.

I haven't caught any Sabres games this year, but he's like 22 and a ****ing beast of a human being. Anyone remember where Chara was at 22 years old?

It's a tricky situation if you want to get him, though.

You can wait until he (potentially) turns it around to get him. However, it'll cost you more. If you take a chance before maybe a change of scenery or whatever you want to call it, you either have a gem or a slug locked up for the long-term.

The Hawks can't afford any big contracts any more. We just need depth at this point. We have enough players with big contracts.

I'd take Myers in a second.

It's a risky proposition if he continues to struggle and you pull the trigger on a deal hoping a change of scenery turns it around before you witness any progress before giving up some valuable assets.

Coach Q has made most of his Dmen better defensively since his arrival, so I believe him being in Chicago would benefit him. Not sure what I would give up though.

Big difference in trading valuable pieces for him and not taking him for free

You wouldn't get him free unless we're still basing it off the Olsen-for-Myers deal.

My post was in response to those saying they wouldn't take his contract.

Taking the risk of that contract is not getting him for free

Sure your giving up nothing of value but your putting your cap future at risk

He's a franchise building block. Myers is every bit worth that risk.

I know goaltending is good so far. I just want to look beyond this season. Not really the thread about this topic but don't wanted to start a new.

If we let Karlsson and Hutton walk, I'm all for going after a euro goalie. I said 1 1/2 years long that we should look at Fasth and was kind of mad about the Ducks getting him.

I think there are more goalies like Niemi and Fasth in europe. They just need a chance and getting them as #3 or even backup for Crawford I would say yes. (I'd keep Karlsson too for that matter)

Christian Engstrand
guy is very consistent and calm. He improved year after year

Jochen Reimer
Reimer is a latebloomer, but he is the best german goalie. He can make all the saves and almost has no weakness. I'd even take him over Greiss (and he plays for the rival team of my hometown team)
don't let you fool by his numbers, the team around him is pretty bad and when they win, you can be sure Reimer was the reason why they won.

Antti Raanta
a guy to keep an eye on. Since he changed teams, he really elevated his game a bit more

Juha Metsola
good reflexes, but he will be too small.

I'd take my chance on one of them.

Keep in mind though that for every Niemi and Fasth there are thousands of others who we don't remember because they flammed out quickly.

Anyone who wouldn't take Myers is out of their mind.

He just turned 23, he averages a .5 PPG as a defensemen and is a freak of human nature with skill. Yes I would take him even at that money, because in 2 years when he fully matures a 5.5 cap hit will look like a steal.
