its gonna be a 4-way race for the bottom 3 spots, and obviously id like to finish no higher than 2nd so we can be guaranteed a top-3 pick. calgary and carolina both have higher ROW and 2more pts, and now we all have 8 games remaining, and whatever they do we can win 1 more game or gain 2 more points and theyd both win a tie breaker against us because of the higher ROW number, so we'd still be lower even if we tie. so if calgary goes 3-5 in their final 8 games, and same with carolina, so we can go 4-4 and still be the lower seed. calgary has a tough schedule and carolina just wont stop losing so we better lose a lot of our remaining 8 games if we want a top-3 pick. i'd like to go 2-6 or worse, or top out at 3-5. sucks that its come to this but adding mackinnon or drouin will be hugeeee moving forward and hopefully we can stay healthy (which nvr happens) next year.

Yeah, and unlike others, it hasn't been all bad. Being able to watch Hubs do his thing, the Alien go nuts, and several other kids do well has been a treat. Of sorts.

Time to start putting the puzzle together.

I think as important as the draft and offseason is to next season, we really need to change our medical staff, or bring in a spiritual guide, the pope, native Indians, whoever can rid the BB&T Center of its negative spirits Injuries are inevitable, but enough is enough. It is ridiculous that we are near the top of man games lost EVERY SINGLE SEASON! Something has to change.

As far as the team goes, I am real excited for next season already. We are going to get Steeg and Bergenheim back next season, and if you add a Drouin or MacKinnon to the team (hopefully), our offense is automatically better. With a couple of additions at forward and defense, and subtractions as well, and a full year of Markstrom, I would bet we are a playoff team, AS LONG AS THIS TEAM CAN STAY HEALTHY!

Drouin is the better junior player, there's no doubting that.

If both are still available, I go MacKinnon. Drafting a top line center is really the only way the Panthers could have one, since we wont be paying for a top line center any time soon. Mac also allows us to have Bjugstad on the 2nd line, which allows Dineen to spread the talent around. The question really is, do you want one dominant top line, or two very, very good lines?

Calgary has a pivotal matchup with the Oilers tonight. Hopefully they can sneak out with another win.

discussion is between drouin and mackinnon in general

some want drouin-bjugstad-huberdeau as top line, some want a bona fide #1 center.

Yes, two days after the finish of the regular season. And the draft is June 30th.

Thank you.

I'd guess we MacKinnon. Drouin is intriguing though. Hard to say no to Jones if he's still on the board when we pick.

I don't know about anyone else but I had felt the same about Huberdeau during his draft year. I'm a bit more open-minded now so I wouldn't mind seeing either Mac or Drouin. Can't deny that they both have the tools to be great NHL players.

Wonder how much weight Tallon will put into Hubs and Mac having played together previously.

Isnt Drouin compared to Toews? If that is the case, would Huberdeau and Drouin be his Kane and Toews of the Panthers? Regardless, I still want MacKinnon!!!

some people think Barkov is there. if Niuschkin(spelling) wasn't russian, it would have been the big 4 instead of big 3 if i understood ti right

Not sure if I agree with Drouin being the better junior player, even if he produced better.

The thing about Drouin is that what he does in the Q, will likely not work in the NHL imo. Holdning the puck for that long, the plays he makes are plays that would never happen in the NHL, or highly unlikely. There is no question about his talent, but I'm worried about his translation to the NHL. He might need to make some small changes to his game. Drouin seem at times to keep the puck on his stick for too long, a bit selfish at times?

I'm all for MacKinnon, if we dont select him if he is available I will be really disappointed. That will likely change after a short while, but I really do think MacKinnon is the kind of player and talent that will take this franchise to the next level. And MacKinnons speed is simply amazing..

Drouin will likely have to go the same route as Huberdeau. Going back to the Q for another year to gain some strength. The skill level and all is there, but need to add weight and strength.

Yep exactly, that's what I was getting at.

No no no, Drouin's build and style is comparable to Kane or St. Louis. Aren't you thinking of Monahan?

I don't really think so, I think it's a big 4(Barkov), possibly a big 5 with Nichushkin included. It won't be shocking to see Nichushkin not picked in the top 6-8 though. No one should be surprised on draft day to see Barkov picked #3-4. He's an excellent NHL prospect that's built like a tank.

Also, while I feel there is a dropoff to Monahan and Lindholm, it's very slight IMO. It wouldn't surprise me at all to see Monahan and/or Lindholm become a better player than one or two of the top dogs down the line. Anybody picking in the top 10 this year is gravy.

There's really no doubt Drouin is the better junior player, he blew MacKinnon's PPG average away in the regular season. Whether he can adapt to the pro game is another story.
