Pretty obvious reference to an undrafted player, took me about 2 seconds to figure out who you're talking out...
Im sure even Savard hasn't heard that name in decades

Tom Phillips keep risen up in the draft ... and for good reason. I'm not entirely sure where he should be rank, but it really don't bother me getting taken in the 130's. (I was the first to select him in the ATD in ATD#7 at like 33X, how things change, right?)

He wasn't my guy, but he's been on my radar and I expected I'd have to take him before 150.

I suggested a different LW to jkrx but we disagreed a bit. Phillips is more of a glue guy on our top line then my recommendation

The OP is a mess...some of the trades are only partially processed...honestly I'd rather just have nothing done than a partial...right now it looks like vecens and Dreakmur have two picks this round. Here is this round fixed, so at least we have a picture of the near future. Let me know if anything is off, but I think I got it.

The last two trades from the trade thread still need to be processed, and some that have been processed need to be added to the end of the OP.

Round 5

129. Modo - Dawson City Nuggets - Bernie Parent, G
130. VanIslander & Hedberg - Hershey Bears - Larry Murphy, D
131. Velociraptor - Trail Smoke Eaters - Georges Boucher, D
132. Leaf Lander - Toronto Maple Leafs - Rick Middleton, RW
133. vecens24 & Dreakmur - Mystery Alaskans - Hod Stuart, D
134. Bring Back Scuderi - Pittsburgh Athletic Club - Alexei Kasatonov, D
135. MadArcand - Hartford Whalers - Pavel Datsyuk, C
136. DoMakc - HC Donbass - Charlie Gardiner, G
137. jkrx & KingForsberg - Philadelphia Firebirds - Tommy Phillips, LW
138. Hobnobs - Seattle Eskimos
139. Reds4Life - Detroit Red Wings
140. Nalyd Psycho and Mike Farkas - Minnesota Fighting Saints
141. EagleBelfour & DaveG - Les Nordiques de Québec

I had definitely looked at Tommy Phillips, but I figured he'd rise again. Getting him was a pipe dream...

Something I have always wondered about: what was G. Boucher's real first (actually middle) name?

Was it George or Georges? I see it printed one way sometimes, and other times the other way. We know that his paternal grandfather was French Canadian, but that the rest of the family were Irish, and I know from researching Frank that the boys spoke with a bit of an Irish brogue, so they weren't terribly French, though it's still possible that he ended up with a French middle name (his first name was actually John). I have tried to find a photo of his grave, but come up empty. Does anyone have any definitive info on this guy's proper name?

I was always under the impression it was "Georges" with his French Canadian heritage, but it really could go either way.

What does everyone think about pairing Boucher and Quackenbush, they are pretty similar defenseman, and they are both LHS. Two separate pairings or have them playing together?

Would you pair Boucher and Quack?

I think the pairing would work well. Two well-rounded defenseman, one physical and one not. I don't see any reason that it would be a bad fit.

Just a quick note, the OP does reflect the trade between N.P. and I's team and MadArcand...we're up at 140, just so there's no confusion on who to notify, who's picking, etc.

I'm around for the next bulk of hours after Nalyd select, but I do need to have a quick chat with my Co-GM, before making the selection.

No definitive info but I lean toward George because that's what the HOF calls him.

If I'm ever at Beechwood Cemetery I'll look at his grave.

We're pumped!
Ditto, echoes the sentiment of Hedberg and I with: Mark Howe - Moose Johnson
