Helm is a ghost. He does not exist.

no wonder center on our third line has looked like a gaping hole most of the season.

I dunno. Kindl has generally been our 3rd pairing D with the third line and he's +16 or whatever. Helm has never been better than +9.

On paper our third line looks like hell. But it's not been that bad.

Biggest thing in Helm is that with him it takes the defensive load off from both Zetterberg and Datsyuk. So basicly it bolsters our offence, when Z and D can be used more at offensive zone and Helm eats those defensive zone center minutes and turns the game in the other end by his blazing skating.

Our third (and fourth) line play 8-12 minutes a night that are heavily sheltered against the other team's weakest lines. A big part of that is weakness up the middle where Andersson (and Emmerton) aren't strong enough two way players, and aren't good enough at the draw.

Helm would immediately upgrade out bottom6, and help shoulder some of the defensive load from Z&D. And, no, Helm's not exactly a Selke candidate, but he's better than anything we're running out there right now in his place.

I think arguably what we miss most about Helm is his notoriety. He draws a lot of attention for a 3rd line center. As it stands now, our bottom lines aren't threatening at all. Have they been decent? Sure, but no one is going out of their way to account for Joakim Andersson, Cory Emmerton, Patty Eaves, etc. And they don't take too much energy to defend.

He's to young to be rushed back. They just want to make sure he's 100% and ready for contact.

Don't understand why he was rushed back. Thank god Andersson is playing well in his place, though he doesn't have near the effect Helm has on the team. My dream 3rd line for this season was Tatar - Helm - Tootoo

I think I'm gonna go the Holland route and say that Helm is an addition whenever he's healthy to play again, until then I'm not going to count him as a regular. Hopefully that addition comes no later than October.

I just hope it heals completely and we don't have to deal with nagging injuries the rest of his career. Take it slow, Helm.
