Best guy of the worst powerplay of the league!!!
He was okay, but not good.

Let me be clear on something: I like Eller. I've always defended him and still think he can be a useful player. What bothers me are the reports on his "hockey sense issues" (McGuire) and now his intensity.

Since Gomez pooped the bed last year, he should've seized the opportunity and brought it up a notch. Instead, he's been beat out twice at the center position: once by DD and now Galchenyuk. I'm always hopeful when it comes to Lars - especially considering the talent and size he brings - but I think he's running out of time in MTL.
I'm sorry but I personally don't see how Eller has ONCE been given a fair chance. His best play was with Kostitsyn and Moen and then for whatever reason that line got changed and he's been floating around playing with different players since.

"... I personally don't see how Eller has ONCE been given a fair chance..."... not once?

Eller is currently playing with Desharnais and Cole; that's an opportunity imo. Thus far he does not look good but the line did well during the last 3rd period though.

Before someone mentions that Eller can’t play wing, it’s unfair and all that crap, it’s Eller 3rd season in Montreal and he still has not find a regular role/spot after playing as a C 90% of the time. Maybe adding the capacity to play wing to his repertoire can help him find a niche in the NHL? Desharnais looked good on Gomez’s wing alongside Gionta, Seguin first cracked Boston line up as a winger, Leblanc, a natural center, also looked good with the big club last season... on wings. Heck... even a guy like Streit, a freakin’ D!, made his first strides in the NHL as a winger. Why can’t Eller do the same?

I hope Therrien will give Eller, Desharnais and Cole another try this afternoon... they all have something valuable to contribute and this team badly needs them.

Eller is a good 3rd line C, he should be there for the year, spending time with some aggressive wingers (Prust/Moen) and DD on the wing.

Once Patches comes back, then we'd be looking at more changes, but for the better IMHO.

In the long run, I can see MB making a move in dealing DD somewhere south west where he'll explode a la St-Louis.

explode like St. Loius wtf are you smoking bro

martin has been a stud for 6 years now , great hands and wheels

the midget hasnt scored in 16 games dating back to last year from what I read

When St. Louis was DD's age he was getting waived by the Calgary Flames.

I think once Cole starts playing better after 10 games (just like last year) they'll start producing again. Desharnais needs Cole to drive the net to make plays.

Good to see BOTH Eller and Desharnais with some production.

This was probably the best case scenario, get them both going at once so we can end all this infighting BS.

Both were great today. Not even sure which was better. The best part is of the three goals between them, they both participated in all.

Lol as one of the big DD fans here, I'll get one of the No Excuses avatars with it.

Great game from our boys. I'm not going to gloat because one good game doesn't make up for 4 or 5 mediocre games, but it's encouraging and I hope they can keep their foot on the pedal.

Both guys were unbeatable on the boards tonight.

I was so afraid that he was going to pass that shot up and somehow pass it off. His decision making has been a little suspect, and indicates a lack of confidence, but he made the right play there. No over-thinking involved.

I think he's up for nice stretch of games now.

“I didn’t think of it as being in a slump, five games isn’t a slump,” he added. “I’ve been in the league for more than 100 games and I know what we can do,”

Good thing DD is smarter than half our fanbase.

Gomez never went through a slump, he went through a decline, not the same thing.

A slump is a statistical fluctuation about the mean expected performance, the "bad luck" version of the "good luck" hot streak.

A decline is a downward shift in the mean expected performance, and is luck-independent.

How is he smarter than half our fanbase? He comes off as an idiot to me. Does he have a university degree?
