They should buy out Ovechkin and either sign him to a decent contract and then trade him for whatever they can get. Cause no one's taking his contract for a 65 point player.

You can't buyout a player and then resign him... in fact you can't acquire him at all (free agency/trade).

Could they if he played a year if Russia? ( to rebuild his confidence) not that it worked during the lockout. But I guess what I'm saying is it a time thing that they couldn't resign him or they just never can again?

I'm sure when they had the compliance buyouts last time, they weren't allowed to acquire the player for 12 months after the buyout. Yashin came back to the same team, didn't he?
I doubt Ovechkin would get a buyout but they might let him retire and play in the KHL.
Watched Kulikov's game tonight and he played really well, a joy to watch.
Sharks are flying 3-1 over Hawks 9 minutes left in the first
Make it 3-2
Great game
3-3 and ugly times now! Head up Mayers! Who the hell gives a guy a buddy pass like that these days, anyway? People talk about guys skating around and taking passes with their heads down, but how about some flak on the guys putting them in those spots with those passes?
edit: can't wait to see how these penalties shake down. Looking like more refs making ***** of themselves with bogus calls.

Another loss for Caps. How long before Oates loses his job?

The Caps' formula for failure is like most crappy teams. You have a small productive pool of talent and a lot of leeches.
It's a three player team with a hodge-podge bunch of followers.
Of those followers, they have a couple inconsistent skill players in Marcus Johansson and Wojtek Wolski. They have grinder/power forward Troy Brouwer, and the rest are grinders or non-productive skill guys like Mathieu Perreault or Jay Beagle.
Mike Green is another knucklehead D who can score a bunch but can't defend for crap. Their best Dman is John Carlson. You have Erskine, who can fight, and a bunch of guys who are worse than Boullion.
Somehow, Joel Ward has 6 points right now, but he is no Brandon Prust or even Travis Moen. He's having another "Vancouver moment" where he's just super hot for now before he fades away back to grinder land.
As long as McPhee is there, Oates will have only a couple years at most to right this ship. Too bad for him that his homecoming has come at a time where George McPhee's incompetence is starting truly show itself.
Oh, and McPhee WILL be there indefinitely, as he is Leonsis' pet. The reason Caps fans don't seem to care is because it was such good PR to do the opposite of whatever Redskins owner Dan Snyder does. Dan Snyder mortgages the future for the present, Leonsis says otherwise and blows up his team. Dan Snyder has his coaches leave whether by firing, resignation, etc. Leonsis believes in "stability" and keeps his same failure of a GM for YEARS. Of course, the PR spring is starting to run dry thanks to the Redskins becoming competitive again. Ah, dire, dire straits indeed for the Crapitals.

Wow, was San Jose jobbed on that call. Clean hit, Keith instigates with a visor, but... Desjardins thrown out of the game, called for the extra penalty instead of getting the 4 min PP from Keith's penalties, and give up the PP goal. 4-3 Chicago. Wow.

Buying out Ovechkin... are you nuts that would cost the caps 79M$, effectively putting the team on bankruptcy.
