Halak coming off that amazing run in the playoffs with Montreal. If Toronto got him we would've had an elite goaltender by now.

Cause Montreal wanted to trade him out of conference. Not only are we in the same conference, we're also in the same division. Not only are we in the same division, we're also their arch-rivals.

Because idiot Burke was at the Pride Parade in Afghanistan.

You don't trade a top end talent withing division. Letting Grabovski go, who they thought was a bust for a pick is not the same.

This.

Burke's entire tenure was spent managing his public persona instead of acquiring a competent goaltender.

Why didn't the leafs get Legace during the offseason of 2006 instead of trading now #1 goalie Rask for Raycroft?

That could be the worst trade of the past decade; I know alot of people will point to the Kessel trade but atleast we got Kessel out of it.

Why didn't we get Halak, Byfuglien, or Ladd? Why was Versteeg the target instead one of those two other guys from Chicago I mentioned. Must be his truculence, pugnacity, and such

Halak thrives off of the crowd. No chance Montreal fathomed trading him inner division

Was 2006 the year Vancouver traded for Luongo too?

I don't think he would have been traded to us unless we overpaid.

Halak would work 10x harder for the Leafs to prove the Habs made a mistake.

After that legendary run he had, he had to be traded out of the conference.

Post A was being sarcastic.

Post B was being serious.

It's funny and sad at the same time.

Because we had Brian Burke running the team...and we already had two #1 goalies at the time. Don't you remember?

There was no room for a third #1.

Would've cost a lot more then what they got and it's not worth it sending it to your division rival. Only Burkie would have those balls.

How is it that all those washed up goalies like Mike Smith, Brian Elliott etc. can go and thrive and we always get guys who are at the end of their careers? Seems like the Leafs stopped trying to get goalies and now they just rely on the in house ones who may or may not work out.
