You can have any other prospect instead of Jensen. Maybe Swap Jensen for Gaunce? I know Kassian is very appealing, just like Kadri for Leafs now.

How about...

Toronto: J. Bouwmeester, R. Horak & 1st Round Pick (2013)

Calgary: P. Kessel + Miscellaneous Draft Pick

I fully understand. It is interesting to see a deal that doesn't look to bad from both sides, and not get shot right down.

Not that I would say trading Kessel is a must or I actually want to see it happen. We are a message board after all; and

Gaunce + Luongo + 1st + 2nd
for
Kessel + Scrivens/Reimer

Is incredible value, if we actually were looking to send Phil out west.

I wouldn't do that as a Canucks fan. Overpayment.
And Kessel is not the type of player that Gillis would want. He's been preaching about size and toughness, Kessel is neither of those.

It would be a done deal as far as I'm concerned. Here's a link from sportsnet about Kessel leaving Toronto. Its speculation, my only point is that others are considering as well. http://www.sportsnet.ca/hockey/trade...uongo_roberto/

It is one of those save face trades on all fronts.

Gillis can preach that he got an All-star sniper for Luongo and assured starter to CS.

Leafs pick up 2 firsts and 2nd , along with one the leagues best goaltenders.

I'm not trying to persuade it; I want Phil to win in Toronto.

It's still overpayment.
Take out the draft picks and I'd consider it. (or take out Gaunce and the 2nd and leave in the 1st)

I wouldn't hate it. Leafs get mean for the future.

Would suck to see Phil go, I'm not for it. However, this is a trade section of the forum; and it is fun to see the value getting clearer.

Kassian + Luongo + 1st
for
Kessel

Instead of the previous Jensen + Luongo + 1st
anaheim is the best fit .......i look for a big deal with the ducks .with the leafs signing
getzlaf to a long term deal ...

Might be overpayment but imagine this when Booth and Kesler are healthy.

Sedin - Sedin - Kassian -------> skill and toughness
Raymond - Burrows/Schroeder - Kessel ------> maybe fastest line in NHL
Booth - Kesler - Higgins ---------> maybe best 2 way line in hockey, reunite Amex line!
Weise/Volpatti - Lapierre/Malhotra - Hansen -------> one hell of a gritty line

Hamhuis - Bieksa
Garrison - Edler
Ballard - Tanev

Schneider
Reimer

I think this would be a crazy lineup for playoffs.

I'd welcome Kessel on this team for the right price, just not for an unnecessary overpayment.

Wouldn't do Kassian, but other Leaf fan agreed to this:

Luongo
Gaunce or Jensen
1st
2nd

Good for those Leafs fans.
They'd also do Bozak + 2nd for ROR.

No way ducks take Kessel for Perry straight up. That's horrible EVEN if he wanted out and agreed to an extension before hand I wouldn't do it. Perry isn't being moved unless a first is involved roster player and prospect.

Maybe, but the problem from Vancouver's side is it takes out the desire from Gillis to get a solid return on Luongo and ignores the short term window that Kessel may bring if he plans to test the UFA market. Two 1st's and a 2nd is fine for a season and a half of Kessel, quite a good deal actually, but if he leaves in the 2014 off season and we gave all that up as well then that's a very poor return for Luongo.

Now getting away from turning this into a second Luongo thread, what I'm wondering is has Kessel giving any indication of where he may want to play? The OP brought up Jeff Carter and Mike Richards but those guys were signed long term. We saw Pittsburgh get a great return for Jordan Staal but everyone knew he wanted to sign in Carolina.

Personally I'd think the Leaf's best bet is to try and keep him, and I thought the Lupul signing was a gesture towards that. With a seemingly mercenary attitude Leafs may not get the return they want for Kessel, as some comparison trades may be Pronger TO Edmonton or Luongo to Vancouver. The best example in their favour could be Minnesota trading for Pavol Demitra with only two years for at the time a hot shot prospect Patrick O'Sullivan and a mid 1st round pick at the draft.

Although of course Toronto could find themselves in the ugly situation at this time next year where maybe the Leaf's still aren't in a playoff picture and Kessel hasn't shown any inclination to sign a contract extension so you're basically looking at getting at best a trade deadline deal for Kessel or lose him for nothing.

I'm not a cruel person so for Toronto's sake I hope it doesn't come to that.

Is incredible value, if we actually were looking to send Phil out west.
Gaunce, our 1st and 2nd are all fine assets we (OK, I) would surrender, but I think you severely underestimate how our team, most of our fan base, and most importantly, our GM, value Luongo if you think you can get him in addition to what you got Kessel for originally.

Yes, I'm fully aware our picks are lower then Toronto's were, but at the time Burke thought his team was playoff ready, and as much as I think of the Canucks team this year...prove to me we won't get a top 5 pick (especially if all the doom prophets are right about Schneider).

Kassian won't be moved. Also, I think most of the above applies here too, as at the moment Kassian > Gaunce and this years second pick.

That seems low...what else would Ducks fans want from Toronto then?

If the Leafs are to ship Kessel out and tank (rebuild) then why should they go after Luongo? they could get better package for Phil; a decent young roster player + prospect + a pick.
