Colorado-Washington

I'm just going with the Garroich rumour, not saying I believe it but just going with what it said. I don't really make proposals but I'm gonna give it a shot.

Marcus Johansson
Cam Schilling
2nd round pick

Ryan O'Rielly

Flame away.

Not sure why we add Schilling when the rumor stated they were looking for a young forward + 2nd.

Johansen is a decent player, but O'reilly brings so much more. Avs wouldn't make this trade, a second and Schilling don't come close to making up the difference.

INB4 some one says that O'reilly didn't score much more than Johansen.

I would think Caps would do it, but I simply can't see the incentive to do it for the Avs. They could likely get a better package from many teams around the league.

We do need the 2nd, but I'm not sold on Johansson and Schilling.

Not sure why adding Schilling would be such a huge hang up for you, when this would be a great deal for WSH.

once in a while a gm like burke will kill himself and his team to score an rfa that wont sign. most of the time the seller is not in the best position. with the salary cap going down and ror wanting a stupid contract to sign, i would think teams would be hesitant because of cap issues.

Love O'Reilly, but don't see him as a great fit for Washington at this time. These are quality pieces we'd be giving up to upgrade the 3C position. O'Reilly isn't going to play ahead of Backstrom or Ribeiro, and Laich is already an above average 3C. Sure, it would enable Laich to return to 2LW once he's healthy, but that's not going to be a huge increase over whoever is bumped out of the top six (especially given that the bulk of Laich's production has always come on the powerplay). And there's already plenty of injury depth with Johansson, Perreault, and Laich all capable of filling a center spot in the top six if Backstrom or Ribeiro go down.

Sure, it would allow the Caps to walk away from Ribeiro after this season, but what good would that do? It's not as if O'Reilly is going to be cheap. If he was willing to sign a sweetheart deal, he wouldn't be in this situation with Colorado. Is it really worth it to give up a player with the upside of Johansson, a 2nd round pick, and the only LD prospect in the system with a legitimate chance of being an NHL regular to save a couple million at the 2C position for a year or two? I see keeping Ribeiro and those assets as a better use of resources.

That's an Easy No from the Caps.

He's pretty good. Pitched in the World Series with a bloody ankle for the Red Sox.

Undrafted NCAA free agent, signed by Washington in March after the conclusion of Miami's season last year. Excelled with the Red Hawks and has adapted well to the pro ranks in Hershey so far. His upside is a second pairing, all-around defenseman, and is a pretty safe bet to reach the NHL in some capacity. Good mobility, strong on his skates, not afraid to play physical, and has a good shot. Typically plays a pretty conservative game, but can open it up a bit more when necessary.

That does not make him right. I consider him a joke. I won't believe it until someone actually credible like McKenzie says it.

The avs haven't recovered from the last trade, when the caps robbed them of Foppa. I doubt Sherman wants to get embarrassed again.

Calling winners and losers in a trade where the key component was drafted just a few months ago and hasn't stepped on NHL ice yet. That's cute.

Where one of the key components hasn't stepped onto NHL ice yet, you mean? We are very happy every single time Varly steps onto NHL ice in a Colorado uniform. Thank you, not only has he continued to develop but hes became a fan favorite as well.
