Caught the Jets piece last night on TSN's TradeCentre preview show. Pretty well just touched on how Cheveldayoff will be looking to add a top 6-9 gritty, power forward who can help with scoring, preferably top 6. Said we'll want to keep most of our younger core intact as that is the goal. Dreger did say though as much as we have guys we could sell per say, make no mistake, Chevy is a 'buyer' in order to improve the team going forward.
Players listed as potentially/likely available (that I can remember off the top of my head): Hainsey, Burmistrov, Antropov, Postma.
I forget the exact words, but Dreger made it sound like Burmistrov could very well be on the outs in order for Cheveldayoff to get what he needs/wants.
I still think there is a chance Paul Stastny ends up a Winnipeg Jet. Whether it be this season from now to the trade deadline or in the offseason. Just a feeling. Stastny is a pure playmaker, imagine the things he could do with Evander Kane on his wing.
I have a fairly short list of untouchables on the Jets roster. To me an untouchable is a player that either is so unique and good at his position that he won't be replaced, or a guy who's ceiling is such that we will end up regretting trading him because we won't get fair value.
Mark this post, if the Jets trade Burmistrov they and Jets fans will regret it for a long time. It is frustrating to watch him now but he is so close to breaking out, I just know it.
Add Byfuglien, Bogosian, Kane and Trouba to my list.
i don't want to see anyone specifically traded, but i am close to wanting to see the makeup of the team changed. Essentially who i want traded depends on who we want to keep. I guess of all the players currently on the roste ri would really only protect Bogo and Kane. I would protect burmi just because i don't think he'd return something fair to what he could become.
I like ladd little wheeler buff and toby, and i certainly don't want to see any of them moved for futures/picks, but i wouldn't be opposed to 2 or three of them being moved out for pieces of the same talent level but of different roles/playstyles.
To me there are zero untouchables. A player is untouchable if he wouldn't be traded under any circumstances. There isn't a single player on the Jets roster worthy of that. Outside of a Crosby, Malkin or Stamkos I don't see why anyone would be an untouchable.
yeah the only untouchables on the roster in my opinion are 1. Kane 2. Bogosian 3. Trouba 4. Scheifele
If Wayne Gretzky can get traded, then there are no untouchables, if someone came to the Jets with a hugeeeeeeeeeee overpayment, Kane would on his way to the airport.

fair enough, what i meant by that was i wouldn't be actively shopping around those guys.
agreed. Johannson will be a non starter for CBJ, and i don't want burmi going anywhere when its quality for quantity and burmi is the quality. I'd trade less then burmi for just mason.

Mhmm. Similar mindset to me!
To me it's no player (even those 3 mentioned above) are untouchable... but some players price tag when combined with what mode the team is at (build, rebuild, sustain) may make a player seem untouchable.
Sometimes a players value to the team far exceeds there market value, which creates the illusion of being untouchable.
According to TSN Paul Stastny is trade bait. I wouldn't mind packaging something up for him.
As would I but Little is the only real piece other than picks, prospects or something minor like Postma or Hainsey I would give up and I'm not sure that would be enough to get him.
I would really like him on the Jets but I sense he willmfetch an overpayment. Makes complete sense for the Lanch with Duchene and ROR emerging.
Not so sure it will take an overpayment given that his cap hit is $6.6m and the cap is going way down next year. He's good, but he's not worth $6.6m to a team spending to the cap IMO. That limits his value on the market.
I don't know, his contract makes him harder to move and lowers his value.

Edit: Damn you Brogosian
Good points boys I had not looked at Capgeek before my post......he seems to have parlayed that career year into a nice overpayment. I like him but $6.6 is very high Plus he only has one more season before he is a UFA.
Burmi had 20 pts in 74 games his rookie year. Johansen had 21 pts in 67 games his rookie year. Just saying.
You could certainly label Burmistrov a "bust" at this point, although I would agree with some of the other posters that he seems ready to break through. I wouldn't be trading him. If we have a potential number 1 center in the organization I think it might be him before Schieffle, although I would bet Chevy drafts 2 more C's this year
What would you guys realistically give up for Stastny?
I like Paul. I was an Avs fan till the Jets came back.
Is nobody else worried that he has settled in as a mid 50ish point player. If he has is 55ish points worth that much more than Little brings? Paul is pretty good on the PP, but little is probably better on the PK and I don't think they are that far apart at even strength. If you factor in how much more Pauly is gonna cost - is he really worth moving Little?
