In any case Lebrun's reputation is great while Sunnuck's is at rock bottom...
Hey, for me, nothing new man... Tell me, when the odds played our way... us against the world... once again ... once last again... we believed through, not a good time to doubt it now...
While it's obvious that if something isn't done by month end it will be over in Phoenix and questionable that something can be done within the next two days. I would suppose that stranger things have happened. Either way we'll all know soon.
Unless of course anyone does not believe the obvious.
I am roasting Pierre Lebrun with questions on Twitter right now. I think it's bull**** that if he had something to share, he didn't share with everybody. If you have news pertaining to a specific team, you should share it with the team's fans, not in French, only to the Canadian market. If anyone has a Twitter, come help me bug him for an answer

Tweet I sent to Brahm Resnick last night:

What are you hearing about Greg Jameson and Coyotes purchase. Will he make the deadline?
His reply:
@brahmresnik@knowsthegame
There has never been a reason to believe he has the money

Eh, he's just making a logical assumption, like most of us. Indeed, there hasn't been one reason to believe he does have the cash, but that's nothing new. If your hopes are up, just ignore his tweet. Nothing's changed.

While he may be correct, Resnick (like LeBrun) is an annoying idiot.
In the end, there's only one way this deal makes sense: the league needs to bring down the price close to $ 110M. It really is that simple.
The COG deal makes it conceivable for the team to break even over the long term if we manage to make the playoffs most years, and with perfect execution from the management team. But looking at other playoff teams around the league that aren't turning profits, there's no way this club is ever going to turn a sizable, consistent chunk of cash to investors.
So really, unless the owner's a hockey fan (which apparently won't be the case, it's looking more like a conglomerate of institutional investors), the only upside is increase in value. But what's a realistic target within 5 years? Right now the Sharks, which fill their arena every night, have superstars on the roster, and make the playoffs every year, are valued at $ 225M. Let's say we're shooting for a $ 200M valuation in 5 years. When you start at $170M, that's just not worth the risk at all. If I were to invest in this, I'd to look at an upside of 200%.
There has never been a reason to believe he has the money
Actually there is. How long would you negotiate to buy anything, house, car, whatever, if you didn't have the money or were not reasonably confident that you could come up with it? GJ has been at this for how long? He would have to be insane to continue the charade this long if he did not think he could fund the deal. Look how quickly Hulsizer bailed when it appeared Glendale would not be able to sell the bonds.
Also, I believe he had to demonstrate to the league that he could complete the deal before GB did a presser with him announcing GJ as the new prospective owner last year. I know this country used to love the "liar mortgage loan" a few years ago, but look where that got us. At some point GJ had to have demonstrated to the NHL he could close the deal.
On the contrary, there is more reason to believe he will come up with the cash than there is that he won't.
I predict a celebration beer tonight after the announcement.
He works for TSN AND ESPN, all three are the same thing. ESPN owns part of TSN/RDS. ESPN is the American network, TSN is the canadian version of ESPN and RDS is the french version of TSN... or french canadian version of ESPN.
Thanks, I did not know that. I knew the RDS / TSN connection, but did not know that ESPN was the mothership.

Which phase are you now 3+ years into this saga?
I think personally I am on #5 at this point. I am accepting the reality that I may loose my beloved team.
I dont know how far fetched this is, but you know how Jamison was the former owner of the Sharks, well today, something interesting happened.

Sharks have announced that majority owner Hasso Plattner has purchased SSE shares formerly held by investors KevinCompton & Stratton Sclavos
Also tweeted by Puck Daddy. Could the two latter gentleman be Jamison investors trying to get money at the last minute by selling to Plattner?

Nice find. I think it's more likely that either 1) they were already lined up, and this a step that is a prelude to the final sale or 2) it's totally unrelated - they need new mega-yachts or something like that.
I hope this thing ends tomorrow one way or another. Is Seattle still in the mix? I would follow them if they moved there, i would follow Doan if they move to QC (unless he just retires).

Personally, I'd rather be a QC fan than a Seattle fan, but I'd really prefer to be a Don, Tip, and Doan fan. I think QC rules out all three, where as Seattle gives us hope of keeping maybe the whole trio. As such, I'd prefer Seattle to QC, but ONLY for that reason.

I guess you are referring to the "you'll thank me later" bit. He means because Edmonton is his favorite team, he's a huge Oilers homer, he's absolutely gushing about all of their young stars, he believes that crew is the savior of the NHL and hockey as a whole, and that they are going to put on a clinic of hockey played the "right way" (fire wagon, run and gun, free flowing, all offense, skill first hockey). He already went into great detail about it during the Predators telecast. haha.
