Lol at could there be a new arena downtown. Best kept secret if so. Bet Phoenix would be happy they spent all that money on a remodel a few years ago.

3 new markets the NHL wants, all of which have arenas coming

Do the math.

Probably the most depressing day as a Coyotes fan.

Problem with Sunnocks is that he is a no talent hack reporter. I have never trusted anything he has said in the past and won't in the future.

Well, I don't have to work tomorrow, and not until 2 on Friday, so I will be drinking from when I wake up till the end of the day. I'll either cry at the end of the day with tears of joy, or tears of sadness. I'm just glad this whole thing will finally be over one way or another.

I would love that. I've always told myself that I would turn into a Colorado fan just because of the close vicinity without being in the Pacific Division. Of course I would follow the players that I've fallen in love with on this team as much as I could.

Just so you know, he's had that moniker about himself on his Twitter account for months. You deserve better.

Oh has he? I just know a handful of the coyotes people I follow on twitter were making a big deal about the fact that it was on his profile today then it was off and I guess now it's back on or something?

I dunno, I haven't followed him since he switched from IceEdgeDJ to HedgeyeDJ, so I assumed this was big news today.

Sorry for adding to the wild goose chase.

Sunnucks is an embarasment to print journalism, I am so tempted to eMail his publisher at this point. He should have his "unamed sources" licence revoked.

Back when the season ended in may I was sad at the thought that hockey was "over." then the lockout came along and I found other ways to watch. And I played a lot. When the season finally started, I was actually a bit disappointed because going to watch a game means missing a chance to play a game. That's when I realized that while the NHL is nice, it's not the only game in town. Far from it.

Any buzz the team had after the deep playoff run has dissipated. It was squandered.

And I've realized that not only will I not be surprised to see tomorrow come and go without a completed sale, I also won't care. Life will go on and I'll have a bit of extra money and time available.

How hard a deadline is it? Really...

"If there is a sense of progress and he can show some light at the end of the tunnel the deadline won't be a drop dead date..but there will have to be concrete direction leading towards proof of all needed funds...including debt service."

Some sources believe tonight that the large chunk of money still owed Wayne Gretzky is a high priority. None are blaming the Gretzky camp or saying Wayne has been anything but patient, but the sum does need to be resolved.

This would also not surprise me AT ALL.

Every single 'drop dead' date has come and gone with nobody actually dropping dead. People seem to think that today is the day, and if it doesn't happen by midnight, Bettman will be announcing tomorrow morning that the team is moving to QC. Except how many dates have we seen before? And the hard deadlines always seem to get softer the closer you get to them, until they finally blur and fade back into the distance.

That's cute. Deadline for the best lease possible is today. I don't care how they spin it afterwards. You meet that deadline if you want the team. Doesn't matter what the NHL does on their end, the city will not extend that $300 million deal.

The new mayor has gone on record twice now saying he will make an ideological stand against the deal, and not offer a second more of time.

If the deal is not completed today then the team leaves - simple as that.

If Glendale does anything to extend the deadline, which I seriously doubt, there is zero chance they will not make the terms less favorable for the team.

Everything else is just a smoke screen to salvage whatever they can out of a lame duck season.

That's about where I'm at at this point. Love Denver and have some family ties to Colorado, so that is the likely replacement. St. Louis is close to me (OKC) so I guess that's another option. I won't consider Dallas.
