Probably not much more than MDZ and Kulikov contracts.

2 years ~6 mil is my guess

So, just to be clear....he wasn't traded? I thought the hfboards commentariat had the final say on this.

Bergevin comes out like a boss, team is playing well with a 3-1 record, gets Subban signed for cheap, and when this contract is up Subban will still have 2 RFA years.

I called it. He had very little leverage with Markov returning to form, and the Habs off to good start.

I think he deserved the money he was looking for but RFA's have to know they are still controlled by the team.

When they are a UFA they can ask for the moon.

Rumours (somewhat credible) suggest the Habs have stood pat at $2.5/$2.55M cap hit offers right from Day 1, perhaps a $2.2M/$2.9M split. The Habs have really played on Subban's commitment to the Habs IMHO, but all's fair. Great for my FHL team too.

Makes Subbans camp look pretty dumb for holding out if they accepted this deal. I don't imagine MTL was offering him anything lower originally.

This is why no GM tried an offersheet. Having young rfas sign cheap bridge contracts to be used as comparables helps them all

Marc Bergevin deserves a lot of credit for being patient. Kudos to him.

100% agree. Subban never wanted to go anywhere. He's loved in Montreal and this is his childhood team. He's an important building block and knows the Habs can get good quite quickly.

the top 4, wow - with the emergence of emelin - subban/gorges markov/emelin and diaz/bouillon

Maybe Bergevin threatened to come out of retirement to take his spot? What a deal for the Habs.

Good deal for the Habs, good money and good terms for Subban. He will start negotiating his next contract within a year most likely. Time to step up and prove he is worth more.

I hope Don Meehan reads this thread so that he can see how much of a fool he is and how much we dislike him.

I think I just dislike agents in general, but it seems it's always the same ones who make their players hold out.
