That's hard to do. Almost all of the threads seem to work like this:

Win: We're making the playoffs!
Loss: We suck, get rid of player x, y and z

But yeah, that game the Isles just played was very impressive.

I see I'm not the only one, coming in to post Wow

Terrific game. I was thinking at the start of the 5 min major, that if the isles held them to 2 goals, we'd be lucky. Instead zero goals during that long pk.

I know the islanders played a very good, opportunistic, defensively solid game....BUT to me it didnt look like PITT showed up AT ALL. Someone forgot to set the alarm...because they looked like they were going through the motions. Part of that had to do with the quality play from the Isles...but man, they looked like they were dead...no speed, no compete, no physicality...just sleeping.

I like what i've seen from the Isles...especially because I feel like JT really hasnt gotten it going yet....and Grabs has been awesome....OK has been occasionally OK, but mostly ******. It is nice tho, to not have much dead weight left on this team....pandolfo jurcina et al....heck, even reasoner was, ahem, reasonable, in his role tonight....

Excellent game, clogged the front of the net, superior PK. Grabner was a one man wrecking crew. I was very happy to see the Islanders bench near the end of the game (last 30 seconds i believe) look ho hum showing to me the "taking care of business" persona.

Our new motto should look something like this

"Ya know, when I first got to camp I
figured this team had no chance. I
was just hopin' we'd win enough that
I could stay on and really start to
build something here. But there's a
lotta talent on this club, Garth
The veterans are starting to play
back to form and the rookies are
developing faster than I thought.
There's two or three potential all-
stars in there. I think we're a first
division team right now."

Anyone still want to send Grabner packing for a draft pick?

Games 11 through 20.

Those will tell you if this is a real step up or not. The establishment of Grabner's game as legit has been a significant bonus. The defense will be the story line though. If Hickey continues to blossom, if Viz comes back, if Travis heals, If Carkner plays more like tonight and less like the Peg game... more than a few ifs.

I am not getting happy until half way through the next 10 game block, and we haven't even finished the first.

Just got back from watching the game with friends...PITT def did not come out to play, but all the same, we did. And for as little as some think of our team, we did prove that we're not a team to be taken lightly from elite teams. I love that we have the kind of players that won't step down from games that most have us counted out of. If this is the trend for the shortened season, then who knows...just nice to still be in contention. And who knows where we'll be after the 2 games with NJ...but who knows....could be exciting

On XM radio yesterday morning, Denny Potvin noted a number of Pens had the flu.

I hope so because their chances without him in the lineup are pretty bad. I was under the impression he was playing hurt tonight. Players do it all the time. He also had a really low key third.

Big win tonight on national TV. No matter what this was a good road trip. When's the last time we could say that?

Like I said.

Fleury is one of the worst in the league. Vokoun comes in shuts us out in 3rd.

I just finished watching the game on my DVR... missed the last 6 mins because it stopped recording. Most have all made points that I wont re-state, however....

Kudos to the Reasoner line on their play tonight. That line is our best forechecking line by a long shot. They force so many turnovers via forechecking and neutral zone pressure. Casey's wrap around goal was a direct result of that work. And more particularly Reasoner had an awesome game tonight. He was all over the puck, caused a **** ton of turn over... and there was quite a few times he was 1 on 1 with Crosby and he did excellent every time. His PK effort was great as well. No goals, but call me crazy but I am going to vote for him for player of the game.
