I'll be happy for now. I guess. Maybe they'll work some of the rougher details out of their game before the trends start to even out.

Special teams will remain a big deal this season as long as nudging a guy after he dumps the puck in remains a penalty.

Paajarvi should never carry the puck across the blueline again in his life. Chip it in and try to go around the guy. If there's physical contact the Oilers get another PP.

Hemsky and Yakupov are bleeding chances against. I really feel for Gagner who is playing well in all zones and his trying his hardest to cover up for the other two. It's too bad that we can't send Yakupov to the AHL to get him acclimated to the pro game because he's lost. Something needs to be done about that line, i'm not sure if switching RNH and Gagner will do the trick but something needs to be done because it's ugly more often than not.

As much as I like Harti and PRV together, I'd like to see Harti jump up to the 2nd line, and Hemsky go down to the third for next game

As for "don't complain, we won".... remember the beginning of last year? We were winning games despite not playing well. It eventually caught up to us. We shouldn't put off fixing problems just because we're winning.
They didn't seem awful to me. Like they weren't a stellar shutdown line, and there were moments of panic. However, that is to be expected. They created a lot of offense, which is their goal. Gagner played fantastic. Hemsky played great in 1 zone, average in the other two. Yakupov struggled, but oh well.

We aren't going to get perfection, and shuffling things around right now is as bad idea IMO. We need to get people used to their roles. PRV is not a top 6 player, so why play him as one?

Just happy they won. This team has some serious 5v5 issues, but a win is a win.

Much better game from Hall. He's still going to make some bone-headed plays (missed tap-ins, stupid dangle attempts), but he did change up a lot about his game:

He's started deferring to Eberle/RNH. He's starting to enter the zone and slow the play down as his linemates join them. And since they're better at maintaining possession, it's better for the line overall. What this does is free him up to crash the net up the middle while the others handle the puck, either getting a scoring opportunity, or a sure drawn penalty (like he did tonight).

I wish he would back-check harder, as once he loses the puck he tends to float back into the zone, even when there's a third man high coming from his side of the ice.

I've heard the rumblings also. I think he would be a decent fit (and at least get some games with us. But I'm pretty sure the Sens will want more than just Potter (Potter+ is too steep, but Potter straight across would be alright value).

I feel like switching hall and Yakupov would be a step in the right direction.

Its hard to think about after a night as good as this one for hall, but yakupovs passes are absolute rockets and a little wild, eberle and rnh are the only guys on the team i can see recieving them, and they are good enough to ease him into the nhl. Carrying him as a passenger on the line until he's comfortable enough to step up himself.

Hall is a beast when he's on, but i don't really think he needs anyone in particular on his line to become that monster. He can do it all by himself, and with gagner playing so well in all three zones to compliment him, it might be alright.

I know its silly to change things after a win, but this was still a nerve racking one right to the end, against a severely depleted colorado team.

So we win another game on the strength of our PP. This is turning out just like last year. We were not bad until for some reason the refs ate their whistles. When they where calling penalties we had the 3rd best PP then the loses started piling up.

How many even strenght goals go we have 2? This is just going to be a continution of last year until this team can play 5 on 5

Just find someone to take Hemsky off our hands and drop someone with some size on that 2nd line

Lack of production is making the 5 on 5 play seem worse than it might actually be. The only game where they got consistently dominated ES was against Calgary, although the last two periods against SJ was probably just because the Sharks started taking it easy after the first period. Had their moments against Vancouver, LA and Colorado tonight, just didn't get any goals out of it.

You're not going to stick one defenseman out there to protect the lead in a 3-1 game, regardless of being on the PP.

Only if the old-new-NHL style officiating doesn't disappear again in the playoffs.

But I don't know if the Oilers could beat the Sharks in the west final.

Nevermind that its their speed 5 on 5 that create the PP opportunities. Once teams stop grabbing, hooking, slashing at them when they are blowing by them the 5 on 5 stuff will go in.

Yakupov always drifts to the right side, it's going to take a while for him to adjust, hemsky doesn't play fast enough for yakupov (quick give and go's), but yakupov isn't without his own faults.
