Any tips for Ball/dek/floor hockey stickhandling?

Im a noob to playing hockey and recently joined a rec league ball hockey for beginners. The league uses these bright orange rubber balls from canadian tire that are supper grippy and bounce a lot. Because of the grip I can't seem to properly stickhandle it? everytime I try, it would sometimes get stuck on my blade because the blade is too closed (open?). i'm basically whacking it back and forth like a ping pong ball pretty much.

anyone play with these kind of balls before and have tips for handling them? I also find it hard to toe drag. extremely difficult.

You can't toe drag with these. The toe of your blade will bounce over the ball.

Remove the tape off your blade, it helps reducing the friction. Try to have your blade slightly above the ground when you stickhandle. It allows you to rock the ball back and forth.

Lastly, don't try complicated moves (backhand toe drags, curl and drag...). Do simple moves and shoot a lot.
