How is this not considered trolling?

Wasn't referencing anything dirty. I was pointing out the stupidity of that hypothetical trade.

That's probably roughly what Iginla is gonna go for for whoever gets him. Maybe slightly higher value to make the point. I can see Pens offering Despres + Tangradi + 1st + 2nd if they're in the hunt.

Do you understand that Despres+Tangradi+1st is less value then Forsberg? Dmen can be hard to evaluate, but Depress is at best a bottom 3 dman currently. Tangradi is pretty much a career AHL'er. Maybe he plays for Calgary, but that says more about their roster then Tangradi's worth. Don't see how that is worth more then a highly valued forward that slots into top 6 when he comes over.

Despres slots into the Flames top 4 the same way Forsberg slots into our top 6.

I highly doubt Forsberg is more than a 3rd line caliber player next season. That's where I'd have him at least. Beyond that, top 6 probably, but it's not like he has ridiculous offensive upside.

To be sure, I agree with you. I think the Caps best realistic hope is to get Ovi to rebound and then trade him when he's rebuilt value in a few years *unless* he changes his game in such a way that he's worth keeping into his 30s and/or they can't afford to lose him from a PR standpoint.

But I'll never, ever discount the chance of a GM making a monumentally stupid decision and coming up with an offer nobody could predict.

I've learned to never underestimate the level of stupidity of people, especially desperate people, so I wouldn't completely rule out anything either.
