Ballard to the Pens

Pens fans have been waiting for an upgrade to Crosby's wing for seasons, but right now our defense looks terrible.

What would it take to get a guy like Ballard?

I'd do something around one of the closer to NHL ready D you guys have. Than plus something.
He's providing some good play right now, has very good chemistry with Tanev. Come back in the offseason I'd say.

How about Ballard for Crosby.

Both problems solved.

here's a better offer: Tangradi for Kesler and the Sedins.

Our top 4 have looked very strong, bottom 2 have been shaky but that's partly because of the absurd coaching decisions by DB. The last think we need is an inconsistent defenseman in our bottom 2.

I'd say Bortuzzo+Dumoulin is a fair offer

We're gonna keep Ballard thanks

He's been our strongest d-man so far this year, and he's a great mentor to Tanev

Tanev has been better and is probably mentoring Ballard more than Ballard is mentoring him.

As crazy as it may sound Ballard-Tanev have made a incredible pairing thus far and have looked like top 4 dman on the bottom pairing, and I only see his value going up. Doubt he is sold now, if they are going to move him it will be for cap relief in the offseason, and I would imagine his value can only go up.

Ballard won't get traded before the summer. At that point it will really depend on how his season went. So far he's been our best defenceman, and if he keeps it up he'll be in for a nice return next summer. Probably an NHL ready D to take his spot and a 2nd round pick.

As pathetic as it sounds, Ballard has been our best overall Dman(Edler's been better offensively, Tanev defensively).

We should keep him until the offseason, or at least until our defense shakes off the rust.

Haha, this is what you get for mocking our Ballard proposals for the past two years!
He's finally playing really well and now the Canucks cant afford to move him.

Ballard and Raymond were on the butt end of every Nuck proposal for the past 2 years. Oddly they are 2 of our best players right now, if we dealt them we would lose every damn game.

no, just the Tangradi offer.

btw, for Canucks fans who want to make him feel welcome after the trade, his nickname is "The Shift".

Has Ballard done something on offense that I missed?

Hes played pretty damn good the last few games which is great to see.

Ballard ain't going nowhere right now. It would take someone like Neal and a high pick to pry the guy from the Canucks. The guy is a rock. Always defended the guy...

Defensively ballard and tanev have been incredible for us in our own zone since the season started.

Given how the rest of our D has been playing lately, i dont know if we can get rid of him right now.

I am scared about tanev the most, I worry when teams see what an amazing passer, and defensively responsible D man he is, he is going to be in high demand and be a much higher priced d man was his contract is up at the end of the season.

Our defense has been fine. I'm not sure what you're watching.

Terrible? Nope. It's not great, but we aren't in dire need to add a blueliner.

Maybe if our Russian all-star would get his head out of his ass and play, we wouldn't be giving up five to Toronto and four to Winnipeg. At least two of his own mistakes ended up in the back of the net.

I think people need to back away from the superlatives on Tanev and Ballard, though they are playing very solid hockey. They have played above their a 3rd pairing, I'd say at second pairing level. Definitely promising, given Tanev is young and Ballard's rep though he's been fine now for 12 months.

Awesome, not that Martin plays fine, an overpaid buyout candidate is just the thing this teams been missing.

No, no, no! I do not want Ballard on this team. Yes he'd likely do better here than in Van due to the style of play (not that it would be hard either). If we're not bringing in a big crease clearing guy, then we need to start playing the rookies we have.
