You mean Luke Schenn wasn't the answer?

He's been really good for us. I don't regret the JVR trade at all. Another thing is, I do think Schenn though can do a little more. I wonder if he will get some PP time. He can definitely get it to the net from what I've seen.

I just don't want to hear another person say Bryzgalov sucks and is the reason they're losing. I know nobody has in this thread but he has a .926 save percentage and a 2.16 GAA. I just don't get how the offense is so bad. It's not the transition game because even when they do get the puck they don't know what to do with it.

I think probably it's just a small sample thing and they'll reel off like 9 wins in 11 games or something in the near future. There are issues with the team, but they're too good to struggle to make the playoffs.

I'd be a Flyers fan I'd be really really worried now.

(and I'd be happy Bryz has been that good)

I hope so but the young guys don't look anything like last year save for Read. Hartnell being out hurts but doesn't explain everyone's poor play. Giroux has just been a major liability out there. Voracek can't control the puck. It's ugly. I wouldn't be surprised if they do miss the playoffs with how they're playing. They have the talent but the talent isn't showing up. I think Couturier and Schenn playing on higher lines and being expected to score is hurting them too. They're only second line players and playing much bigger roles since the line depth has been reduced from injuries and Jagr leaving.

All out battle for worst team between Philly, Colorado, Dallas, Florida, and the Caps? Though knowing the Flyers they'd get the first overall pick and take McKinnon instead of Jones and basically waste the pick to get something they don't need.

Well Capitals came close to winning, but they still coughed up a 2-0 lead. Not sure who is worse though.

Dallas gets the Texas boy. The Flyers get the Canadian boy. The Capitals get the Finnish boy. Deal?

They need some mobility from the back end. Look at this group and tell me how many of them can move the puck or connect with tape to tape passes to their forwards? Timonen-Schenn, Grossman-Coburn, Lilja-Gervais. Only one of those defensemen is a mobile defenseman (or was known as one) and he's 37.

Not having Hartnell and the loss of Jagr also hurts a lot. They've also never replaced the loss of Pronger, so they're a team playing with too many holes in the lineup.

Too many holes, PK + PP are terrible and just about everyone (with one or two exceptions) is playing bad hockey.

Timonen is also pretty mobile

Coburn while huge is pretty good at moving the puck

I like Lavi but I don't know how much longer he's going to be kept around. The slow start problem existed when Stevens was still the coach though so I really don't know where the blame goes.
Ha, have you seen the Rangers powerplay? Do you remember the 5 on 3 in the first game? Also, the Flyers were outplayed today, IMO. The Rangers had the better of the chances. However, it wasn't that bad at all. You want to see bad? Watch the first game between the 2 teams. The Rangers may as well have not shown up. They did nothing well. Bryz had to make 1 good save that game.

Hartnell and Jagr out are two solid top 6 forwards out. 3 with JVR (though he didn't play like a top 6 winger very often for the flyers).

Lost one of the defencemen who moved the puck well (Carle) and brought in one who isn't great in that regard (Schenn). No Pronger, but it was that way for most of last season and they were still an offensive juggernaut.

There was some serious losses from last season that weren't compensated for. Looks like a team begging to play a more defensive system considering since there isn't the transition defencemen they need for they possession game they played last year.

This sounds exactly like the Colorado Avalanche....not fun to watch. Except we have Erik Johnson plus 5 bottom pairing dmen. You at least have Coburn who can play an all-round game even if he doesn't put up pts and Meszaros if he eventually returns.
