Thank god the Cherry's of the world have foreigners to attack instead of the French Canadians of yesterday.. he would have been chewed out.

If Tortorella had seen this I would have expected a benching no matter how good you are

I don't know if the Flyers have done it but Schenn was hyped up for a long time as the best prospect in hockey and all of this stuff when he's probably more along the lines of a good player, not a great player

Your condescension is not appreciated, slick. Brayden Schenn will be fine. They've been moving him from center to winger, and changed his linemates a few times.

yea this ship is sinking quick. Better trade Giroux to the leafs before hes valueless.

Anyways your having a tough start. The season isnt over, and the flyers will rebound. Personally feel that Lavy needs to get the axe, been saying it for a couple years now. The run and gun only works for so long, need to pay more attention to the defensive zone.

That wasn't even a backcheck, though. Literally zero effort on that play. I saw that and as a Bolts fan I was yelling at him. The thread blew up blaming Leighton for the rebound. The rebound, while juicy, could have been cleared, or Hedman's stick could have been tied up, by Giroux if he just tried a little bit.

They blamed the goaltender on that goal? Ye gads.

Yeah, I'm ready to put that myth to bed. Everyone is saying Giroux is off to a slow start, and being snake-bitten offensively is forgiveable, but D is about effort and about giving a ****, and right there, he clearly didn't give either effort or ****. And honestly, that doesn't strike me as very Captain-y either.

In all fairness, I think the time for this thread is after you lose 6-0 to a bad team, not after you lose 2-1 to the Rangers

People really still think Giroux is better than Tavares?

I always had a nice chuckle when those arguments went on.

Girous is not, and never will be, better than John Tavares.

Just thought I'd throw in my .02. And yes, they are brutal to watch.

I think their main problem is the organization was banking on Couturier and Schenn to step it up to the next level offensively, but I dont think either of them are ready for that. Simmonds, Read, Vorecek, Talbot, etc are nice complementary players, but outside of Giroux and occasionally Briere, they dont have any forwards to generate offense on their own. I dont agree with most people who feel like if the Flyers make a big move it should be a defenseman, I think they need a forward. I think they should be targeting Perry and maybe even Iginla, just another elite forward who can take pressure on Giroux and help the team while Couturier and Scheen continue to develop.

On another note, making Giroux captain was a huge mistake. Nothing against him as a player or a person, but the captaincy in Philadelphia is way over hyped (prob bc of Clarke) and it usually is a huge distraction for the player wearing the C.

Most would disagree. Also, what does Philly's record have to do with a Giroux vs. Tavares debate? The Isles were worse last year, they were worse two years ago, and they'll be worse this year.

I could see maybe taking Tavares over Giroux but I don't see what Tavares has done to indicate that he's better at this point.

What is with all the paranoia about proving that Kadri is better than Schenn today?

The most of them have played horrible, I'm sure some will turn it around, hopefully most. Flyers usually always make the playoffs, if they don't this year then at least it's during a short season.

While I agree that he probably wont ever live up to the hype that he got (which wasn't from Flyers fans, most feel Couts will be the better player) it's way too early to say. The kid hasn't even played 82 games in the league yet. I dont hold last year against him either because when he wasn't injured or stuck in the AHL because of contract reasons, he never got to work with consistent line-mates. It wasn't until the end of the season that he began to find some chemistry with Simmonds and Briere.

Schenn had the hype a long time ago and I agree, Couts will be better. Although he's more hyped now.
