Pominville doubled down with Ruff about Kaleta. Jason's been one of the three best forwards on this team since recovering from the concussion, but that's not a captainly soundbite.

Brennan had one really great chance. A middle of the ice, nobody to block it rocket from the point and in typical Sabre fashion, he missed the net.

Generally, I thought most of them actually played pretty well. I felt the first Leaf goal was the result of a fortunate bounce and Miller whiffing with his trapper. The last goal was on Leopold and Miller.

I still notice a difference in effort level at times between the Sabres and a team like the Leafs. That's what makes me the most frustrated and that I put on Ruff.

Oh, and what in the hell is with these garbage unsportsmanlike penalties?

In the Carolina game Vanek gets one and 10 minutes later Jeff Skinner is screaming **** at the ref and gets nothing.

Now last night, Hecht gets one.

OK - I'm only going to focus on the positive (it makes me feel better):

• Grig's first goal. The first of many, I believe
• Stafford looked great. He's finally using his body consistently and playing a good puck possession game. His pass to Sekera on that goal was excellent
•*Vanek still going to the dirty areas. Almost scored on a deflection.
•*Poms' goal was nice
•*Foligno starting to look like the Foligno of last season. They need that.
•*Weber a pleasant surprise.

That's pretty much all I got

Of course he went along with Ruff. I like him as a player, but he's not going to be one to voice his opinion if it has any negativity regarding the coaching staff.

Yea, not sure how Lindy saw it that way. That hit was clear in the middle of the numbers and unnecessary. I'm sure Kaleta is thrilled with Lindy for tossing him under the bus like that.

Yea it had it's own charm to it; he seemed lost for words that he kept rambling. It definitely wasn't a signature call, but no big deal. The guy probably won't see a successful team before he retires. Feels ******.

Top pick or not, this team isn't going anywhere with Lindy Ruff in chage of his development.
You aren't being fair. He's played 6 NHL games, with no training camp and no preseason.

Who was it that gave Kaleta that suicide pass? Kaleta should send him the hospital bill.

My point is that you or anyone cant determine if he's going to go "anywhere" with Lindy in charge of his development.

Haha ok.

Keeping him off the ice late in the 3rd period of a tied game isn't going to help him any.

But I will go off of history...

How many elite players or even superstars drafted by Buffalo has Lindy coached up in the last 15 years?

Brian Campbell
Ryan Miller (already mentioned above)
Jason Pominville
Thomas Vanek
Tyler Myers

If you want to go that route, Lindy does have some input on drafting but I'm sure the final say goes to Regier and his scouting department. A better question would be: "How many elite players or even superstars played in Buffalo has Lindy coached up in the last 15 years?"

Tyler Myers is a superstar/elite player right now?

You said in the last 15 years. He was a superstar/elite player in his Rookie season.

Ruff gets credit (from me) for Campbell and Pominville

He under developed Vanek in a huge way... Andreychucking him to death was a mistake.

His 180 on Myers after his rookie year was also a mistake

goalies are goalies

I meant turned out to be elite or a superstar... not had potential to be. We could go down that road... certainly doesn't look pretty for your argument if we go that way though.

Whats it say that Myers was a "superstar his rookie season" and now looks very average and is making $11m this year?

I will give him Campbell (Eventhough it took forever for him to improve, and maybe Pominville eventhough Pominville was a top AHLer his entire time there)

I'm just saying, if Lindy was half as good as people make him out to be, there would be a hell of alot better players on this team and tinkering around the league. Why? because his influence and "teaching" would have made them into very good hockey players.

I concur. And was only answering the question posted. When you actually think about it though, how many coaches actually get a chance to develop 4-5 elite players with one team?

Most of them have input on draft day, and very few of them actually get to coach them.

I think Ruff's time is up, and I can only see this team moving forward without him. It'll be the same ole story year after year with him as coach.

I also agree it was a good choice to keep Grigorenko with the team. However, keeping him with the team, in my view, says that we are building and not to expect much. Ruff should forgive the errors he makes and the fans concede that we are building and not winning.

You gotta love how happy Grigs was after he scored and it adds that the rest of the guys really enjoyed it and supported him also. Especially Foligno. These guys are young and they will be playing together for a long time so it puts a smile on my face to see them be so happy for each other.

How many coaches are in 1 spot for 15+ years?

How many top Sabres picks have turned into elite or superstars? Some negative can be attibuted to Darcy but Lindy has a say and Lindy is supposed to be this fantastic coach.

Lindy has had 1 - Vanek and I wouldn't say he's elite, but I would say he's had times were he looks like a superstar.
