Nice comeback by the team! Too bad we can't score in shootouts though...

Zibanejad was awesome tonight.

Spezza and Michalek should be banned from shootouts.

Well, at least we have a better record than Calgary, Florida, Buffalo, Edmonton and the Islanders. No, seriously, those are the only teams that have a worse record than us.

We were expecting an 8 - 0 whitewash. I'm satisfied with a S/O loss.

Solid effort. Completely dominant 3rd frame but the common themes of the season continue: bad special teams and bad 2nd periods

On a good note, this was one of our best games of the season.

Ottawa played a terrific game. Guys like Phillips, Cowen, Corvo, Karlsson had a terrific game.

Spezza was non-factor yet again, killing our PP's consistently. It's a miracle he got 2 assists which were a product of terrific plays by Zibanejad.

Zibanejad was beautiful tonight. But coached holding him back.

Anderson yet again offers a typical average bottom of the league performance.

Some huge positives and some same old stories.

Michalek really made that Turris line drag behind. Lmfao.

I'm happy we got 1 point, but at this point in the season we need that second point every night.
And of course dropping that second point to the Leafs is terrible.

Despite the comeback, that was an atrocious hockey game to watch.Imagine a team from the west was watching that garbage, not to mention Anderson and Michalek/Spezza in the shootout haven't been this frustrated in a long time.

You knew they were going to lose when it came down to a shootout but credit to them for getting it to a shootout.

I hate to burst your bubble guys, but getting outplayed has been a common theme for the Leafs this season.

You shouldn't take away too much confidence from out playing us.

Also why is Bobby Ryan not in the shootout?

I may be in the minority here, but I actually like Kassian in the lineup. He plays at most 5 min a game and allows use to double shift our best players throughout the game.

Just can't understand why Maclean keeps using Spezza and to a much greater extent, Michalek in the shootout. They have shot in every game that has gone that far and we all know how that went. So why not give MacArthur, Turris, Zibanejad, Ryan, etc a chance to shoot?? If it ain't working, switch it up! I'm just appalled at Maclean's lack of ability to use common sense sometimes.

That being said, Andy needs to be much better in shootouts. He's not instilling much confidence in the team right now.

Things to improve:

Power play. Wasn't as bad tonight as it has been, but still needs a lot of work.

Discipline. Both in terms of not taking a lot of penalties, and also by picking our spots better with embellishment. That non-call by Kadri... Smith waited too long to fall, and when he did, it was with the Leafs poised to break in on a 3-on-1.

It makes you wonder. We have some pretty good offensive weapons sitting on the bench. Might as well use them.

Outplay is an understatement. If the Leafs weren't protecting you guys like a mother for her newborn we probably would have run away with this game, no doubt.

Nice try, though. The fact that we made a comeback even with goals neglected against and allowed for shows that we should take confidence.

Karlsson: 21 shot attempts on net. 9 shots on net.

How the hell he end up minus 2? Probably that brutal goal by Gardiner and the goal that shouldn't have even been scored by Kessel.

I don't feel too badly about that game. The refs had a huge hand in that Leafs win.

That said the team itself is playing a lot better lately. Cowen has taken big strides. Karlsson has been great, Spezza is looking better and hasn't been giving up a bunch of goals against, and even Michalek has looked a lot better. Baby steps. This is a team that can still squeak in on the back of a winning streak at any point in the year.

my Votes to the Poll.

Cameron - Special Teams sucked tonight,

Melynk - Cuz we could have 2 additional $5 mill Defencemen in the line-up and could have been dominant
