Can't wait for the lineup too. It was infinitely better than the bluesfest last year. Not even close! They'll have a hard time toping last year's lineup.

Osheaga has been hinting at some performers, I know Tegan and Sara was one and I've heard that Macklemore is coming.

Back to the original thread, to summarize:

-Osheaga rocks
-Is there any further discount days for Bluesfest tickets
-Osheaga rocks

Once again Osheaga spanks Bluesfest, and this is a pretty weak year for Osheage IMO.

At this point it isnt even a contest for best festival in the area.

Bluesfest seems content to fill out their band lineup based on playlists from Chez 106 and Hot 89.9.

And that's why they have fallen behind.

I prefer Bluesfest this year.

No interest at all in Mumford, Cure, New Order, Kendrick Lamar and many of the other bands.

To each her own of course.

Phoenix would be fun, but not $235 fun.

You got that right, not close this year.

I'd make the trip to Montreal (Osheaga) and pay the $250 just to see Jimmy Eat World, but I really wish they were here at Bluesfest instead.

Would love to see Imagine Dragons again but not gonna pay $250 for it and certainly not leaving the country!

Absolutely agree. Beyond them and Hollerado (who I'm seeing in April anyways,) I won't be heartbroken over missing Osheaga.

CBC is having their own festival at the end of May in Toronto. Looks promising.

For all EDM fans, Escapade Music Festival are announcing their lineup Friday, and apparently they have another Big surprise to announce on the same day.

Comparing Bluesfest lineups with the Osheaga one reminds me of why I like Ottawa so much more than Montreal

So much garbage at Osheaga, it's unbelievable

Just a too many acts that are devoid of any talent at BF for me this year. Their lineup is better than last year, but a far cry from the insane streak they had going a few years ago.

Osheaga is filled with unique and relevant musicians. Not nearly as good as their last 2 years, but still much better than Bluesfest.

I hope Folkfest can build off last year. Outside of the draconian smoking rules (I dont smoke by the way) it was awesome. Could do with some more shops and things to do on the grounds though. Osheaga certainly has that down. You could spend a day there and not even make it to a show.

This is hilarious.

Which acts are "devoid of any talent" at Bluesfest.

Statement makes zero sense.

What relevance do acts like The Cure or New Order have to most people who will attend Osheaga?

Dang.

Jimmy Eat World is probably one of my favorite all time bands (mostly nostalgia)...would love to have them come to Ottawa.

That said Fun. is coming to Bluesfest this year which is...fun. Anyone know if Great Big Sea plans on coming back to Ottawa any time soon?

Also I know no one will admit it here but PM me if you are interested in Rihanna tickets. We won some from the Hot 89.9 and I can't stand her.

They are playing Bluesfest..

Edit: Yeah Jimmy Eat World is one of the only bands I haven't seen from my alt days in the 90's.. Seen pretty much everyone else.. They never seem to come to Ottawa though..

If you haven't heard of the band or musician, then they are devoid of talent. It's one thing to say that some of the music doesn't appeal to a person, but it's completely asinine to say many of the acts are devoid of talent without backing up the statement.

Bluesfest and Osheaga are two different types of festivals. One is a 10-day event that is catering to a much wider audience, so there will be different genres and acts playing. Another is a three-day festival that caters mostly to the 13 to 30 age group, although the additions New Order and The Cure are evidence that Osheaga is trying to reach an older age bracket. Osheaga, however, is much more focused on mainstream, pop-rock music (the Hot 89.9 and Live 88.5 crowds) than Bluesfest is.

Maybe I'm misunderstanding you but just because you haven't heard of a band or they are not super popular dies not mean they are not talented.

As an amateur musician, I've heard a lot of non popular music around the world that is chalked full of talent but just not unique enough to really blow it up big time.

There's a huge difference. Media and promotion also play a huge role in these things.

The Cure and New Order? Awesome.

Seeing that the last 10 years have been about 80's revival, how can anyone argue what "relevance" New Order has today.

I don't know how people are saying Osheaga is not as good as in the past.

Go ahead and listen to Alt-J. They're currently my favourite band.
