The Dallas Stars And The Colorado Avalanche In: THE CASE OF THE MISSING BAG SKATE

I don't know what to tell you, Glen. You're saying you left your bag skate right around here? I mean, I agree, I don't think it walked off on its own.

The question is, who would have the motive and the opportunity to take it?

They'd have to have access to the rink for starters.

They'd also have to stand to lose big time if a bag skate actually happened.

Why of course! It must've been a player!

I know I know, Glen, you have a great group of leaders and all that.

People would surprise you though... what they're capable of.

Let's start with those with grudges...

An axe to grind...

The recently disgruntled.

Well, well well, if it isn't the Captain himself. How are you taking that demotion to the 4th line?

What's that? You're back on the 1st line already? Oh. You must be pretty pleased with the coach then, huh?

Alright, move along.

Who else is old, on the verge of breaking down?

One bag skate away from being finished?

Oh, isn't that nice, the Stars must be doing one of those Take-Your-Dad-Along team bonding road trips. And they even gave him a jersey too! Who are you the proud parent of, sir?

You've got to be kidding me Glen. That's one of your players.

Alright, alright, hey, I'm not the hockey coach here.

Wait a sec, I know! The oldest player on the team, of course!

Jagr! I knew it was you!

Wait, what's that Glen? He begged you to follow through with the bag skate? And then broke into the Pepsi Center to do his own when yours went "missing"?

Well I'll be. Alright, I guess you can go Jagr. Avalanche security might want a word with you though.

Well who does that leave?

Hold on, who's that guy that's been staring at us from the corner this whole time?

Actually, you know what? Nevermind.

S-s-sorry for bothering you Alex, I didn't mean anything by it, I swear.

I'm just doing my job here man. Bag skate, no bag skate, what's the difference really?

Phew, he's gone. Well, this is getting us nowhere.

Is there someone we can just pin this on? A patsy? Someone to take the fall?

What about that guy?

Yeah, I'm talking to you Rome.

I bet you thought nobody would notice, huh? You'd take the bag skate when no one was looking and walk away scot-free. Well I'm here to tell you-

Woah, hold everything. Who the **** is that?

Sir? Sir!

Greg Zanon of the Colorado Avalanche!

Why did you do it, Greg? Huh? For the fame? For the money?

I've seen a lot senseless crimes. But to take another team's bag skate... that you're playing against the very next day no less!

You're sick. Absolutely sick.

Well Glen, I told you I'd find your bag skate, didn't I?

Now take good care of that thing. Keep an eye on it next time, yeah? And don't be afraid to use it someday.

Almost made me cry:

Stars lines from morning skate: Morrow-Benn-Jagr, Erikisson-Roy-Vincour, Smith-Eakin-Ryder, Nystrom-Fiddler-Roussel
I'll take it. Eakin is in the Top 9, and he's got great chemistry with Smitty. Vincour's hard work gets rewarded.

He might have 2 2/3rd's lines folks.

D-Pairs for Stars were: Dillon-Robidas, Rome-Daley, Goligoski-Oleksiak. Jagr didn't skate, but will play. Garbutt, Wandell scratched.
Larsen scratched.

Awesome GDT!

I'm OK with those lines. Spread some scoring around the lineup. Eakin and Ryder have had some decent chemistry as well.

If they are gonna try to roll three scoring lines they should call up fraser or chiasson so they have a full top 9. That and get rid of morrow.

Joe really needs to cut gully now before he permanently damages Larsen. Fine scratch him one game over the penalties. But this is ****ing ******** now. No other team in the league has a coach consistently scratching their better players. Its a joke.

NJ, previously, with Larsson, but he's back in.

My guess is one of those young players will be called up if Morrow fails to deliver.

IDK, but I don't even have energy to b**** about it. I honestly don't even care Morrow is with Benn. I don't want Nystrom, Fiddler, Roussel or Garbutt there, and I'm pretty excited to see Vincour with Roy and Smith back with Eakin in a bigger role.

The only thing I'm disappointed in is Larsen, but there's a ton to feel positive about.

Plus we know this a trial run for Morrow, and they've already proven they have no problem playing 4th line minutes. This really could be an opportunity for another young winger in the Top 9 soon.

Morrow with Benn and Jagr again? We officially have the most idiotic coach in the NHL.

Gulutzan on new lines:

Quote:
Gulutzan is spreading his offensive weapons over three lines, instead of loading them up on the top two.

“With Ray (Whitney) out, Derek coming back in and the play of Cody Eakin, we’d like to play three lines, so we’ve kind of spread ourselves out,” Gulutzan said. “We wanted to get a little more ice time for Reilly Smith. We’ve got him with Ryder and Eakin. We’ve got Roy with Loui (Eriksson) and (Tomas) Vincour. We’ve got Jags (Jaromir Jagr, Benny (Jamie Benn) and (Brenden) Morrow together. We want to have a little bit more of a balanced attack.”
I keep trying to re-read that statement, but it always just sounds like, "I was forced to play Reilly Smith."

Jagr and Morrow play way too different games for this to be a good line

Benn is good at scoring shorthanded so they made him shorthanded all the time by putting Morrow on his line.

Gulutzan is more clever than we realize.

Not sure why we keep trying to make Vincour a top 6 player.

Larsen scratched?

Morrow on the first line?

Yep.

I'd be inclined to agree with you if we didn't get shutout. Benn and Jagr had their first decent game together, but that had nothing to do with Morrow.

Is Morrow's ice time like a token gift thing Gully is doing? Why do I feel it's more one more ride around the range for an odd broken down player than a legit audition that he's earned.

I can only imagine how disheartened Larsen is and when he finally does get to play again he's going to be gripping his stick so damn tight trying not to ****up so he doesn't get banished again. You're trusting Dillon and he's had some hiccups, trust Larsen who was playing fantastically in Finland to right his ship here. It's only been like 5 games for the kid. Why do you hate him so?

I don't think Vincour's hands are good enough but his play has earned him another shot and that combo of Eriksson-Roy-Vincour could be really interesting.

It's almost as if he keeps repeating get R. Smith minutes that alone is sufficient. I'm still waiting for 14+ but hey he's trying, that totally counts right?
