Anyone know if the OKs might have a fan bus for road games?

I would seriously urge people to go and watch these kids play against the Hitmen. In all likelihood, this is the best hockey team representing Edmonton that we will see for a long, long time.

I know it's early for this but the down time between games gets me wondering. Do you thing we'll have Laxdal back next year or will an AHL team scoop him up? Could loose 10+ players next year so it'd be nice to have him around to guide the team again. If not I'm sure Hamilton is very capable.

Series starts tonight, OKs fans. Go to the game so we can beat the Hitmen on the scoreboard and by also outdrawing them.

OKs in six, but I think they could win in five. I think they are that good. The Hitmen won the season series but this is a very different team now, with the addition of a few key players.

The Oil Kings outplayed the Hitmen in that opening period but they couldn't find a way to beat Driedger. 1-0 Calgary but the shots are 10-3 Edmonton.

2-1 Hitmen after two periods. The Oil Kings have squandered four powerplay opportunities while the Hitmen cashed in on one of their opportunities 17 seconds in.

2-2.

Great pass by Moroz to set up the tying goal.

The Hitmen played this entire game like they wanted to go to OT. Hopefully it bites them.

Meh, not too concerned about losing this one. The Oil Kings carried the play while clearly having an off game. Should rebound nicely tomorrow (I'm attending, so they'd better ).

wow Calgary steals Game 1....they must've scored on every one of their chances

something about Calgary teams that Edmonton teams can never beat

huge wake-up call for the OKs...think this one is going the distance

The Oil Kings outplayed the Hitmen for much of this game but simply put... that team just has our number right now. The Oil Kings could pepper Driedger with 50+ shots and the result might still be in doubt with the way these games are going.

Hopefully they can bounce back tomorrow. Lazar needs to have a big game. He hasn't scored since the Kootenay series.

With the way this series has been scheduled it could be a fast series. Man... we'd better win tomorrow.

From Drinnan's blog........

Quote:
From Edmonton Sun columnist Terry Jones (@sunterryjones): “Not huge crowd for Oil Kings-Hitmen. Thursday night a killer for family crowd? Backlash on Kevin Lowe comments? Series being shown on SHAW?”
———
From the Edmonton Journal’s Evan Daum (@evandaum): “6,337 in attendance tonight. Smallest Edmonton playoff crowd since Game 4 of 2011 conf. quarters. 5,938 watched Red Deer win 5-1 that night”
So fill the stadium for the pathetic and gutless Oilers, but stay home for the best hockey that will be played all season in the area? Ok then.

Edmonton is usually a great Sports market. But sometimes I wonder if too many citizens have caught a case of Toronto-itis. Where they say they are hockey fans, but only will watch NHL; the CFL isn't good enough for them because it is not the NFL; and they have never given amateur teams a second thought.

I don't go to too many OK games but go to WHL and AJHL games when I'm travelling for work. I was in Calgary yesterday and listened to the game on the drive home. Tonight I have my kids sports to attend. So I am a guilty of not being able to make it either.

One of the things that pisses me off attending OK games is having to pay for parking. Some WHL teams don't charge, some do like $2-5 and the tickets are cheaper. It has always been a burr in my butt with the OKs. But I hope to make it to game this postseason.

I was embarrassed for this city last night at the constant Calgary-sucks chants in the upper level on the players'-box side. It was two instigators, I think. It's poor sportsmanship and I hope those drunks don't return. Cheer your team and boo the other, I'd you like, but that's poor sportsmanship. /rant

I will be yelling it tonight and I would encourage everyone else to as well.

Fact is Calgary does suck.
