Reimer played fantastic......I have been critical of his game....tonight he has given me hope, I do not mind being wrong! I hope this continues as he played with confidence and tracked the puck well tonight.

I doubted him too.
It was hard not to doubt him after last season.
If he can maintain his top 10 goalie form, playoffs are a real possibility.
I think we finally have a #1 goalie in Toronto. And his name is James "Come at me with the puck, bro" Reimer!
We really need to be patient with our players. NO goalie is going to steal the show when 95% of the team is playing like a bunch of OHL players. I can bet my left nut that when the whole team infront of you is playing like crap, it totally deflates your confidence as a goalie, and that's when you start to let in those soft goals in. The goalie and the players compliment each other by putting in 100% each night, that's how you win a championship.
I firmly believe that this hockey team is headed in the right direction. Carylal (I spelled this wrong I'm sure) is doing one heck of a job in Toronto. When the players like you as a coach, you don't want to let him down. This guy goes out of his way to communicate with each and every player, as evident from Kadri and a bunch of others that spoke about him as a coach.
To the smurfs after tonights game,
"If you're having goalie problems I feel bad for you son, I got 99 problems but Reimer ain't one!"
Why is everyone in this thread so big on Johnathan Bernier and so critical of Riemer?
Just a quick comparison of stats (Yes i know stats only tell a portion of the story but a large portion at that) shows that Riemer has always looked better minus a 3 game stint Bernier had in 2010 where he registered a .957 SV% and 1.30 GAA and a single AHL season where Bernier played miles beyond his ability.
Riemers had better Junior records, more consistent AHL records and has translated them to the NHL level. Bernier's biggest flaw has been inconsistency. He's had hot flashes but he ****'s the bed as bad as Luongo in the playoffs.
All jokes aside, take a serious look at the records on NHL.com from junior right up to the NHL. Gives the impression that Bernier has been a tad overated. I could be wrong and maybe Bernier just needs a chance to develop in the way Riemer has been given (which he never would have got if Gigy and The Monster hadn't been sidelined with injuries), without the threat of a guy like Johnathan Quick. However nothing he has done would give reason for Nonnis to make a trade to bring him in, especially if Riems continue's to play as well as he's played this season, and cause drama in net.
If the leafs are to bring in any sort of tender to TO then a veteran guy like Theodore, or Backstrom (probably a poor example due to his high level of play) or even Clemmenson to name a few would all be better picks than another young inconsistent developing net-minder. This allows some reliability and mentorship that guys like Dubnyk and Varlamov get out of Khabibulin and Giguire.
Conclusion: Riemer is a potential Starting Goalie finding his own in the NHL. Bernier is a slighlty overated prospect who's yet to prove himself as an NHL goalie. Bernier may be a backup but time is running out until he's a bust. A potential trade could prove detrimental to Riemer's progress in worst case scenario, or it could give the Leafs a similar situation to St.Louis or Vancouver by pocessing two capable goaltenders.

Not gonna pretend to have always had faith in the guy in times prior, but I think we're all now realizing just how the injuries affected him last year. He hasn't even played bad in losses this year.
no but seriously, Reimer playing very solid right now! shocking me how good he's playing actually.
It's hard not to get excited about him, he won us the game in Winnipeg... That crowd was crazy and he kept us in it late in the 3rd and we got those 2 goals late to win it. Tonight he was simply amazing in another crazy atmosphere. He's so focused recently. It's not like we need him to be a superstar goalie we just need him to to be Lehtonen-Halak-Anderson good. A goalie that gives you a chance to win - something we haven't had in SO long.

JFJ drafted Reimer, so it's nice to see he didn't leave our goalie cupboard *completely* bare... just set us back a couple of years. It really is nice to have a guy who keeps us in the game every night.
I'm glad that Reimer has played so well. It's understandable to get worried after the season he had last year. It was just a nightmare in more ways than one.
But good to see he's come out strong. Hope he can just keep building confidence for everyone.
A couple of his saves tonight were just incredible. I think he's a terrific goalie who will always have a decent save % due to his size and adequate positioning but his quickness tonight was scary. If James Reimer can read the puck consistently like he did tonight then he's a vezina candidate in the making.
