Brown put Kaleta in the hospital last night. Does anyone know if he's scheduled for a hearing?

Shannahan should give him a medal for that. (/slight sarcasm)

MacDonald's suspension is deserved.

Let's see the league show some consistency though.

I know Stuart wasn't suspended for the concussion he gave Landeskog. I'm not even sure he was called for a penalty on that hit.

McDonald's hit deserved a suspension. Lovejoy did not put himself in a vulnerable position and the onus was on McDonald to slow up and avoid contact on the numbers. Stuart's hit was perfectly clean and an example of why this sport rocks so much.

Wrong answer, it was dirty. Beat them with goals and fists (where appropriate) not dirty hits.

Not to mention it could have ended up totally screwing the team up.. The momentum was all in our favor and he went and handed them the PERFECT opportunity to get right back into it. It was an absolutely idiotic thing to do.

Can't our management send a video of the Phaneuf hit on Tavares?

I'm assuming that means Boulton plays?

What I would like to know now is why either:

a) The Islanders never elevated the Phaneuf hit to Shanny, or
b) Why Dion's hit is not suspension worthy.

I had high hopes that Brendan would bring consistency to this job, and I think he has done better than Campbell ever did, but this is clearly inconsistent assuming the Isles asked for a review.
Do I get a prize? LOL!

Oh well. Now he knows he has to be more careful. League inconsistency strikes again.

Since the lockout has ended I have seen more "hand covering the puck penalties" then ever... Thing is, whether the player covered it for a second or two, or just hardly touched it, the call was the same.

Point being, CONSISTENCY, I do not care how hard, intentional, or any other variation of the hit is described... Seeing the numbers and hitting a player is against the rules. All those aforementioned variables can later be discussed in terms of off-ice disciplinary action.

End of the day, those calls need to be made, not just against the Dion's of the league but too all players that commit the infraction.

The suspension handed out to mcdonald is fair and in turn will give Nino a two game trial...

I really don't see us calling up Nino for 2 games. Especially with the drama coming out of his camp currently, I doubt that would help anything.

it would make him play that much harder to prove to every one that he should be on the team, i think with the way aucoin and ullstrom have had chemistry with each other and mcdonald hasn't really stood out on that line too much i think nino should get a chance

btw if aucoin and ullstrom weren't producing and didn't have chemistry i would be completely against calling up nino

I agree 100% , I'm sure this would only cement the agents cry of he won't get a chance with Snow as GM..Hey let's call him up for 2 games put him on the 4th line let him play 8 minutes each game and send him back to bport because he is not ready.

Agreed, if phaneuf that turd did not get a suspension for that illegal hit, then I don't want to hear a thing about McDonald's hit.

If he gets a suspension, I will be on the phone with the league in 5 seconds. Their offices are near me, and perhaps I'll just pay them a visit...

The difference is Phaneuf and Mike Brown play for Toronto. Doesn't anyone remember the back to back games after the All Star break last year when Toronto got zero penalties against us. When Campbell and Mike Murphy were running things I think that there was a clear bias against us; I don't get the same impression with Shanahan who I think is fair. Still, I think the league as a whole favors Toronto, the Rangers and Pittsburgh. Perhaps not consciously but it does seem to be there.

Our guy did deserve the 2 game suspension however.

Geez, give it a rest already. This league must truly be brimming with incompetence if the team it supposedly favors and lavishes with good fortune can't even crack 8th place for nearly a decade, and often finds itself in an annual battle with us -- the league's whipping squad, supposedly -- for prime real estate in the bottom tier of the conference standings.

Felt that way since Tucker's hit on Peca and still do today.
