There is no waiver reclaim priority for former teams. It's one of those pervasive misunderstandings on the forums that hasn't just grown legs, it's off running the Kentucky Derby. See it oft repeated.
Well it certainly doesn't help that our own GM believes it to be true. JR getting his CBA knowledge from HF?

In fairness, what JR said wasn't a direct quote. Maybe Chip is researching via Wiki again?

I didn't see where JR officially said that. I saw in that article where Chip wrote it, but it doesn't say that Rutherford stated it. Left to interpretation I guess.

If that is true, than this, plus the fact that no one on these boards realized that O'Reilly would have been exposed to waivers, means that any CBA knowledge here should be taken with a grain of salt.

Well, I take anything said on forums with a grain of salt, which is why I was inquiring, but in fairness, the document is a over 400 pages of legal mumbo jumbo, so understanding the nuances of every situation is difficult.

Any team can claim Boychuk, but Carolina is the ONLY team that can send him to the AHL without having to put him on waivers.

I suspect Carolina will be the only team to claim him though. With Nodl out for the season and Dalpe out for pretty much the season, he's needed in Charlotte.

Yeah, might as well grab him and stash him in Charlotte, it's not going to hurt anything and at least he's been around the team and knows the system if he gets called up.

Shorty after 12 noon, I would assume we'll hear something.

I didn't ask, I was talking to AJ Jenks last night, he has an upper body injury(not going to say, not sure if I can), but I didn't ask was specific injuries Nodl and Dalps has.

Chip already reported that LaRose was out with a concussion so I don't think we'll know by 2pm today when he'll be back.

Don't know specifics but they were both reported having lower body injuries.

Not surprising. They needed scoring in any way possible. He should get a long look there.

How long till he's waived by Nashville?

Or maybe he'll finally make it in the NHL.

Not likely seeing as he'll have to bust his ass and get gritty.

We likely did, but Nashville had a worse record so they had priority.

I'm really happy for him, the worst thing possible IMO would be to come back and be banished to the checkers. We have no plans for him as an nhl'er, let him stay somewhere else. Nashville could be a perfect fit. All lines are essentially the same, just hustle and find a way to contribute. Good for him.

We had first crack at Boychuk and we let him go? Not sure that makes a lot of sense with the injuries to Nodl and Dalpe.

We did NOT have first crack, that's a myth. Waiver priority goes to the team with the worst record.

All teams can still put in claims in, and the player is awarded to team with "worst" record.

Nashville could definitely use him. With their defense-strong system, hopefully he can get the time and space he needs to be successful.

Anyways, i never got to see Boychuk in person, so if he sticks I may get a chance to next season when i get to go to some Nashville games. Regardless, hope he sticks there in Nashville.

He should fit right in there as Nashville can't score either.
