Much happier about him going to Nashville than Pittsburgh. Hopefully he can get his game going there.

I think that idea originated because a lot of waiver wire pickups are used to fill in AHL depth. And since any other team has to put the player back on waivers to move them to the AHL (and thus, give the team that originally owned the player another shot at them), most teams didn't bother putting forth a claim, except the one team that could move that player to the AHL without going through waivers: The original team.

If that makes any sense...

But since Nashville plans on using him in the NHL, there was no risk for them to claim him.

True, but the discussion that was occurring at the time in this thread was if Carolina truly had first rights because the CBA didn't show anything like that and trying to get some confirmation on it......but you came out with the "there's no reason to further debate this" comment. I guess there was a reason.

At least if he doesn't produce in Nashville, no one will notice. (Because no one else scores for them, not because people don't watch them, to be clear)

He can disappear in Nashville. Like has been mentioned, no one there is scoring anyhow....so it's not like he'll be on a line with two of the top scorers in the league, and getting ZERO points in comparison. Might also be able to improve his defensive game, he'll have to if he wants to play there more than a few shifts.

There's really no reason to further debate this, Boychuk will be re-claimed by the Canes and sent to Charlotte. Period.

Meaning, if the Canes claim him tomorrow, he will be exempt from going back on waivers or clearing to be sent to the Checkers.

Could you imagine an interview between Chantale and Boychuk?

"So Zach, you've been kicked to the curb by four different coaches, and two different NHL teams, you've played with the likes of Staals, Skinner, Malkin, Neal etc. and couldn't even score a secondary assist, can you walk us through all that?"

"thank you Zatch, now to the out of town scoreboard. The New York Isss Landers are going with out their goalie guy tonight and seem to be doing well behind Juan Jesus Tavares, he's out scoring the other team 2 points to none on his own"

What's the record for different teams played for during a single season? If Boychuk gets claimed by a team other than Carolina or Pittsburgh he'll be joining his 4th NHL team this season and 5th overall if you count the Checkers.

So is he just going to go around in circles until he finally clears to the AHL?

I can't figure out why we picked him up. He's not going to help our offense in any way and we can't even send him to the Checkers without waiving him again. With Boychuk claimed the Hurricanes are now carrying 3 extra forwards (+LaRose).
