In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if the biggest Patriots fanbase located outside New England is indeed located in the Raleigh-Durham area.

15-20 years ago though, the area and the state in general was Redskins and to a lesser extent, Cowboys territory. It still is today to some extent, but not like it was before 1995.

Funny thing though, I think most of us on the Hurricanes board are Panther fans, but of course we don't make-up the majority of the population.
There are a ton of Pats fans now, but still not on par with what I've seen out of the other big fanbases in the area. I don't think there's a single Pats fan on the Canes board, there are at least 4-5 Steelers fans if not more, most of us live in Wake or Durham county.

Well, nobody lives up there anyways.
Well, the U.P. is much closer to GB than Detroit. I went to Tech in Houghton, and it's about 4 hours to GB, vs 10-11 (depending on snow) to Detroit, even Chicago is a bit closer.

Somewhere, I have a picture of Miller Lite/Packers billboard taken outside of the beer distributor near Calumet.

Personally, I'd love to see that map in just pure numbers.

It's not like rooting for the Lions has been an attractive proposition very often.

Cowboys.

Not remotely surprised that the Raiders are the most popular here, and I wouldn't be surprised if that continued if a different team was to come here. They should come back to LA.

I think he's talking about the white colored counties spread amonst multiple states. I'd assume that the counties are either mixed with multiple fan bases where one isn't more popular than another or that there aren't a lot of people living in those counties.
