Grigorenko vs Yakupov vs Galchenyuk

Still very premature but let's get the debated started.

Based on the small sample size, which of these 3 have stood out the most? If you could take 1 on your team, which would it be?

I will admit I have not yet seen Grigorenko and between Galchenyuk vs Yakupov, I do find that Galchenyuk is by far more complete of a player.

Grigorenko : 6gp, 1G, 0 A
Yakupov : 5gp, 3G, 0 A
Galchenyuk: 5gp, 1G, 4A

A Montreal fan creating a poll thread, without a poll, on the main page, to gush about his player.

I give this thread 4 classless Subbans.

This isn't a poll, it's a discussion / debate. One that we could be very well having for a long time.

Watch a Sabres game then. Come for Grigorenko, stay for John Scott.

Awards:
I've seen a little of all three and would put it like this after less than 2 weeks of games as:

Galchenyuk
Yakupov
Grigorenko

That could easily change in a couple of games if one of them happens to light it up. *shrug* This is going to be a long, long comparison, that's for sure.

Wonder why this thread is made 5 games in
Look at player production
Look at OPs location
It all makes sense now

I'd suggest there isn't a team that wouldn't have taken Yakupov first overall last June if they were forced to pick. We can debate who's had a better year to this point between Galchenyuk's slightly less than 2 PPG in the OHL and Yakupov's slightly less than 1 PPG in the KHL but I don't think there's much question that the majority would still take Yakupov. Anyone familiar with Yakupov could probably see his first five NHL games unfolding like this. Frustrating to watch as he begins to understand what he can and can't get away with at the NHL level but you can see he's the most offensively gifted player from the 2012 draft class. Galchenyuk has rebounded very well from his injury last year and in a re-draft he undoubtedly goes 2nd on any reasonable list. As for Grigorenko, he could very well end up being a steal and even the best player from this draft class but is currently not in the same conversation as Galchenyuk and Yakupov.

All 3 will be awesome. Kind of players where we could easily still be having this same undecided debate in 5 years.

This.

I wont give an opinion because I have not seen Grigo or Yakupov play at the NHL level yet. Gally looks good so far though.

Looks like you threw the draft in a blender. Subban now in the top 10 somehow? Yakupov drops to 3 after being a PPG player in the KHL and being on pace for 50 goals in the NHL - that last comment was sarcasm but based on how people take these first five games for Gally and against Yakupov as gospel it should stand.

That's not true, Burke had Rielly as #1 on his list.

Forgot about Rielly and Jankowski - my bad. Those guys go 1-2, the draft starts at 3.

I really wanted Galchenyuk at the draft and I still do. Obviously, 5 games does not a career make but I would still choose Galchenyuk over Yakupov and Grigorenko at this point. I love the kid's character as well.

What has Malcolm Subban done to justify being taken over guys like Griffin Reinhart? Even if he values goalies, the best one from this draft is currently Vasilevski.

Way too ****in early for this thread.

As much as I love Gally and think he is one of MTL's most dangerous players while being 18 years old..

The key to these 3 guys will be how they adjust after the league adjusts to them.
The rookie wall is inevitable and how they deal with it will be key.

Long term I love Galchenyuk's all around game. The guy just gets it and has the compete level to match.

This. Each has a very unique style/skill set compared to the others, and all three have game-breaking potential. Both now and in the future, preference between the 3 could just come down to which you prefer or what your team is most lacking. Yakupov has the elite skating and shot. Galchenyuk is very good at everything and has particularly soft hands. Grigorenko has size and vision/passing. Obviously that's a pretty simple breakdown, but that's how I'd categorize each of their best assets. All could/should be very good players.
