Frattin Staying?

Just wondering what people think about Frattin staying with the team even when Lupul returns. I realize he has only played 3 games and may not continue his play, but I personally wanted him to be playing with the Leafs the whole time.

I'm not 100% sure about the ruling for him playing with the Leafs or getting sent down... Would he have to clear waivers? (a team would most likely pick him up)

What would you do:
Trade someone (MacA maybe)?
Have someone sit in the press box?
Send someone else down to the Marlies?

IMO they should keep him. Trade MacA for a draft pick.
Lineup would look like this:

Lupul Bozak Kessel
JVR Grabo Kulemin
Frattin Kadri Komarov
Brown Mcclement orr

I hope they keep him with the leafs, I picked him up in my hockey pool last night

He had slumped a bit before training camp and I believe (but not sure) that he didn't have a great (but not bad) training camp either which is why he was sent back down. There appears to be no slumping for him now, he is on fire!

He found his game last season in the AHL Playoffs. Solid shot, would be happy if he turns out to be a 15-20G scorer in a 82G season

I'm pretty certain he has to clear waivers to get back to the AHL. So it's almost a certain he'll stay with the Leafs.

He's gotta (and probably will stay) .. Unless MacA starts tearing is up, I would almost guarantee he'll be the odd man out and he'll be dealt

Is he not on an ELC still? I thought they could go up and down with out having to clear waivers.

By the time Lupul returns somebody else will be injured.

If Frattin continues to play well he will stay if not he will go back to the marlies.

MacA has no business still being on this team. Trade him for whatever you can get.
Personally I don't even think Lupul fits in

Frattin/Kadri
Grabo/Kulie

This is the future we add to.

Isn't Lupul out for another 5/6 weeks? A lot can happen in that time.

Of course he will stay. He is better than most of the Leaf forwards. MacArthur can be placed with Frattin and Kadri. Komarov can take Browns spot on the fourth line. Orr is tough enough to handle the enforcer duties.

Nope. Because of his age, he only needs 60 games played before he becomes eligible. Although someone more familiar with the waiver rules, please correct me if i'm mistaken.

Ideally, barring no more injuries and everyone is healthy when Lupul is back, I'd like to see the lineup as follows...

Lupul-Bozak-Kessel
Kulemin-Grabovski-Macarthur
JVR-Kadri-Frattin
Brown-McClement-Komarov

This is a pretty deep, strong lineup, with lines 1-3 that can provide almost equal amounts of offensive output.

First of all, this is still at least 4-5 weeks away.

We'll have another injury by then.... and even if we don't, things will be a lot clearer (i.e. the play of Steckal, Brown, Orr, etc)

He now has to clear waivers, the Leafs won't send him to the Marlies (New york Islanders).

You can expect a deal when the time comes.

In no way, shape or form should Macarthur be on this team over Frattin.

It boggles my mind almost daily that Burke was offered a 1st rounder for Mac last year and didn't pull the trigger. Like it absolutely boggles my mind. At this point I doubt he would fetch a 1st rounder, but I would like to see him traded.

It's nothing against Macarthur at all, I just hate the entire culture of these meaningless signings Burke made that blocked prospects from getting an extended look. We got rid of Conolly and Lombardi, Mac is the next forward to go. Macarthur is a very meh player IMO, and is not a top 6 player on a winning team. Frattin brings so much more to the team, a whole different dynamic that I want to see grow with Kadri.

If he continues to produce, I would keep him on the third line, bump Komarov down to the fourth line to make room for Frattin, and bump one of the fourth liners down to the AHL to make room for Komarov.

Well right now Mac and Frattin can both be in the lineup because of Lupols injury, I would wait till he gets back to trade Mac. Other then that I do completely agree that there players that were signed for pointless reasons should be gone.

According to @B1rky on twitter, Frattin has 9 more games before he would have to clear waivers. So, he is pretty much staying or getting traded. He also adds that Kadri has all season while Gardiner only has 2 more games before being subject to waivers.

Yep, he has had some good chemsitry with Kadri. I think Frattin is showing that when you give Kadri wingers that arent afraid to go to the net to open up space, he will start producing offense. Kind of like what Hartnell does for Giroux.

If he has to go through waivers, then the leafs move MacA. imo.

Frattin/Kadri, the new Hartnell/Giroux

(obviously joking)

Frattin is a part of the future nucleus of the club. I doubt he's going anywhere. When Lupul returns, Frattin will likely take the roster spot of a redundant, expendable player that will get moved at the deadline, such as MacArthur.
