Actually no, if Wathier were 21 and only had 18 points in 50-some games, I would not be in favor of his call-up.
We're talking about guys who have been marginalized on the AHL team. And they're our call-ups. Right, that makes sense.
I'm with piqued on this one. These call ups certainly aren't about what's best for Dallas to win but rather what's best for the development of the kids in the AHL. I'm okay with this but Waither is nothing to get excited about and if that's the route they want to take then Vincour needs to go back down as well.
Vincour went down earlier in the year, came back and played great all over the ice. He played badly against LAK so now he's getting sent back down to find his game again. Players who are filling vital roles in Austin are staying there so they can continue getting that experience instead of watching NHL games from the press box or the bench. Right now the AHL is a better developmental environment than the NHL because they're actually winning games, getting ice time, and getting arguably better coaching.
Plugs are useful because they're just random people who will throw checks and take up space and maybe almost cause a turnover or two. They don't matter. You can use them however you want, and if they're gone tomorrow nobody will care. Yeah it'd be nice if the organization had some better plugs, but they don't.
Hey, I'm saying great, let's actually do that, if the real idea is all the nice things you enumerated. It might be for Joe. Gulutzan sounds though like he really believes Wathier makes the team better. He also makes it sound like it was his decision which is odd.
If you were actually trying to tank, these are also the moves you'd be making.
