The closest we'll ever get to a playoff series.

Wathier in for Vincour probably, because Wathier is a "good solider 4th liner who knows his role" basically.

And Vincour had an awful turnover that led directly to a goal last night.

These recent call-ups are about as clear signal as you can get that the Stars aren't serious about winning. Or they are and just have no idea what they're doing.

The way more scarier (and more likely) option.

I bet if Wathier were 21 you'd be hugely in favor of his call-up.

Uh, yeah? That's the point.

Actually no, if Wathier were 21 and only had 18 points in 50-some games, I would not be in favor of his call-up.

We're talking about guys who have been marginalized on the AHL team. And they're our call-ups. Right, that makes sense.

How does Wathier get a 4th line spot over Sceviour? Makes 0 god damn sense.

Like I said with Petersen, it makes perfect sense if they don't want to screw with Texas right now.

That's a good thing because then it means Dallas is not in win at all costs mode.

Texas making a long playoff run is much more important than Dallas sneaking into the playoffs. The development value could be huge.

I'm with piqued on this one. These call ups certainly aren't about what's best for Dallas to win but rather what's best for the development of the kids in the AHL. I'm okay with this but Waither is nothing to get excited about and if that's the route they want to take then Vincour needs to go back down as well.

He's replacing Vincour. It's not as if offensive ability is being sacrificed.

Yes, it is.

But hey, yeah, let's put plugs in all over the lineup, develop no one and get nothing done, it'll be great.

I don't know, maybe this staff is incapable of further developing our players. In which case Joe is taking the right steps to shield them.

Holy hyperbole.

Vincour went down earlier in the year, came back and played great all over the ice. He played badly against LAK so now he's getting sent back down to find his game again. Players who are filling vital roles in Austin are staying there so they can continue getting that experience instead of watching NHL games from the press box or the bench. Right now the AHL is a better developmental environment than the NHL because they're actually winning games, getting ice time, and getting arguably better coaching.

Plugs are useful because they're just random people who will throw checks and take up space and maybe almost cause a turnover or two. They don't matter. You can use them however you want, and if they're gone tomorrow nobody will care. Yeah it'd be nice if the organization had some better plugs, but they don't.

Hey, I'm saying great, let's actually do that, if the real idea is all the nice things you enumerated. It might be for Joe. Gulutzan sounds though like he really believes Wathier makes the team better. He also makes it sound like it was his decision which is odd.

If you were actually trying to tank, these are also the moves you'd be making.

Vincour will not be scratched for his blunder. With Toby Petersen being assigned to Texas moments ago, they only have 12 healthy forwards.

I'll be watching because there's nothing else on TV.

I really just don't care about this season at all.
