Horton is clutch

This guy is a clutch player.

1st goal this season: A little more than 4 minutes left in the third, Bruins down by 1. Horton scores to tie it up.

3rd goal this season: A couple seconds over 4 minutes left in the third down 1-0, Horton goes 5 hole on Brodeur. Tie game.

4th goal this season: 1 minute:30 to go VS. Rangers. Scores to make it 3-2. Perfect positioning.

Lets not forget his 2nd goal of the season against the Canes. Beautiful goal.

Anyways, this guy turns it on in the third. No way we don't re-sign him.

But anyone see how ripped Horton is on the Bruins Instagram? Beast mode. You can never tell in all that hockey gear

know scored a few goals.

I remember seeing a pic, in the 70's of Bobby Hull with the 2 Swedes (Hedberg & Nilson (?)) he was playing with whoeventually went to the NYR. Hull had this huge barrel chest, and the Swedes
were twigs.

Now I'm not saying Horton has been great, he hasn't, but I'm personally expecting more from Lucic then I am from Horton.

Personally I'd break that line up. You have two guys who basically are asked to do the same thing, but when neither one of them is doing it the line is pretty much SHAT....
I'm becoming more and more convinced that Lucic had attention deficit disorder. He'll just sort of coast for a shift, period or a couple of games at a time and then he'll turn it on. Someone should run his dog over before the playoffs because when he plays mad he's unstoppable.

I think it comes down to if the Bruins will be a better team by not resigning him - what do they do if they don't, where do they spend the money?

I'm pretty happy with Lucic's play this season, especially his physicality. He's had a couple of rough periods, but overall, he's been a game changer out there. 5th in the league in hits with the 4 ahead of him have played more games. I can think of two hits of his last week that has effected the outcome of games: The hit on Weber that forced him to toss the puck into the stands for a delay of game penalty ( Bruins scored on the ensuing PP ). The hit on Nash that drew Nash's retaliation hooking penalty and that lead to an eventual goal by Krejci as the PP was expiring.

yeah, BJ, he tends to be one of those guys that needs to be pissed off to play physical. He needs to have hate and he can't manufacture it.

I didn't find that to be the case before the concussion. I can remember him being physically involved in battles with several defenseman. Subban, Gleason, and Phaneuf come to mind.

I prefer he play a little more perimeter for now until the concussion syndrom is well behind him.

You can't teach clutch scoring, and this kid's got it. I expect if they let him go and slot Peverley up and hope someone can fill in below that; they are going to regret it like they did when they tried to cover for Kessel right after he left.

goals like this are why he needs to be in front of the net on the PP and not in the slot. he's good at burying pucks in front of the net and his release is too slow to be in the slot.

I worry that Horton won't regain his physical game much like Bergeron didn't.

The thing with Bergeron is that he does so many other things great it doesn't matter. Horton goes from a power forward to a perimeter sniper. Not a bad guy to have on the team, but not at a current salary of 4mil, most likely looking for a raise.

Bruins are the 4th oldest, 18th in weight, and 17th in height...

Forwards average--6 foot and a half, 198 lbs...pretty small...they play bigger though.

That doesn't appear to be "smallest in the league," though I was never good at math.

Obviously the Bruins need to add a Blake Wheeler type and get that average up.

The thing that bugs me about raises is, how much more money could Horton want? His wife was a former model for Playboy so she has tons of money, and he's making $4 million! Believe me he has the money to pay his bills.

In pro sports the measuring stick isn't what you got, it's what you can get.

Just business.

Genuine question cause I'm not smart enough to figure it out: was this a sincere post?
