I think they would rather Volchenkov over Tallinder and we would probably need to throw in a 2nd or 3rd as well.

Does he play LW though? I thought he was a C.

(side point: CBGB line will definitely stay together)

He plays both. He's playing center right now.

Jussi is a pretty versatile player. When he was put on the top line with Staal, he produced very well. When he was asked to play with Skinner and Ruutu on the 2nd line, it was the Canes most effective line. This season, they pretty much asked him to "take one for the team". They didn't have a viable 3C so have him playing that role in a defensive manner without any offensive wingers (Bowman and Dwyer are his wingers tonight).

People will look at his stats and under-rate him because of this, but he's a pretty skilled guy who can play a skilled game and a defensive game depending on what you need from him.

Hey look, a HF Boards trade proposal that isn't wildly unrealistic!

I could actually see something like this working. The Canes need defensive help, and Jokinen could be a nice piece for the Devils. Very versatile guy, you can slot him in pretty much anywhere.

Looking for more of a stay at home defenseman, PMD or what?

As a Devils fan, I'm perfectly fine with it.

Our left wing depth is pretty weak too. How is Jokinen's strength? Is he good along the boards and in the cycle, a.k.a Devils hockey? I think he could fit nicely with Zajac and Kovalchuk as well.

If Butler hasn't cracked the NHL line-up after we sent down Janssen, Tedenby, and now Anderson, he's not going to be on the NHL roster anytime soon, let alone the first line.

Tallinder is kind of an all-around guy. He's strong in all areas but not impressive in any one, his defensive game is probably better than his offensive game as well. He'd be a nice fit, in a defensive role if you need him to.

CAR would do this in a heart beat I think

Gleason//Faulk
Volchenkov//Pitkänen
Harrison//McBain

A lot better than what we've been trotting out recently

Go read the Devils board and see if you want to do the deal in a heartbeat. He sucks.

I'd rather have Volchenkov then Tallinder.

What makes you believe Volchenkov waives his NTC so easily and would actually be willing to do so?

This is why Tallinder being traded makes more sense. I actually like Volchenkov. Tallinder makes mistakes too and is not as physical as Volchenkov.
