Fair enough. I mean I wouldn't put him above those guys yet, but you can't go wrong. He's an excellent young player. Of course I'd still consider Lundqvist at 30 a great building block for competing over the next 7, 8 years.
I just don't understand the accusations of Rangers fans "hating" on Tavares. I could see it out of the division, but this is Atlantic vs Atlantic, there's no bias here. If anything, the Islanders are the one team we can tolerate.
In all honesty there's a few guys in the most talented division in the league I'd take over Tavares. That's not a knock on him at all.
Tavares owns the Rangers. Stop acting like he doesn't get his fair share of points vs. you guys. He's only in his low 20's. The kid is going to dominate the league for a long time, and it's only a matter of time before the Islanders finish above the Rangers, who tried to purchase their way into the playoffs, AGAIN.

Rangers record against the Islanders since Tavares entered the league: 11-5-2. Yeah, he owns the Rangers. With Tavares, you just just steamroll over the Rangers and the rest of the league. Oh, wait. You don't.
'Purchase their way into the playoffs'? You realize there's a salary cap now and that argument holds absolutely no weight whatsoever?
Rationalize your mediocrity in any way you please. Just also realize that the Islanders are at the bottom of the barrel with or without Tavares.
My favorite part of this thread is people saying Tavares would be better with better linemates or a better team.
Hartnell and Parenteau had the same amount of points
Jagr was outscored by Moulson by 12 points.
If you didn't watch the flyers after about January, Jagr was the reason why Giroux didn't get to 100 points. Jagr's groin slowed him down considerably and the only thing he could do well was protect the puck. Jagr's passing was below average, his shot was non-existant, and so was his speed.
For all the trashing Phil Kessel gets, would you guys say he would be a top 5 player if he was a on a better team?
Tavares has scored at a .83 ppg pace the last 3 years.
Kessel? .86 over the last 3 years.
No one is pumping Kessel's tires and he's constantly bashed by everyone. Would everyone call Kessel a top 5 player if he was put on a better team? No? Then why say that about Tavares?

Yawn. You said the same things before. Isles are the most inept franchise in NA professional sports while the Rangers continue to contend for the Stanley Cup. You are living off of hopes and prayers.
And I thought you were a Caps fan?!!?! What happened?

Well considering this actually has worked, I'd say sit back and take notes Islanders.
Their home-grown talent approach has led them to be one of the worst teams in the league year in and out, and a 15 year contract with a couch potato. There's a reason the Rangers talk about up contending every season and the Islanders talk about which top-5 prospect to draft.
NYI fan makes thread --> NYR fan saying other player better (I disagree btw, voted JT) --> OMG, you're jealous, Lundpads sucks! --> going completely off-topic.
I mean, my point is, if you're making a poll, and there's a perfect argument for either of the options, don't get angry when your option doesn't get all the votes. It's not like this was JT vs Sestito.
Somewhat close, but still decisively Giroux, he's the 3rd best player in the World. The poll results are quite Comical... I can see giving Tavares an argument if it is based on who would you start a team with, since he's younger. But as a player, Giroux is definitely currently better. And I love Tavares.
Up to now we can agree Giroux is the more prolific scorer( yes i know Philly is usually better than long island) . Although Tavares isnt far behind. I do have to say I picture Tavares as a consistent 80 ,90 point superstar in the league. Id have to say that Giroux wins this one . Tavares might be the better goal scorer though. Giroux

Wait, you mean he's not the best player in the league!? Dammit, Lavi is a liar

I don't know sounds like the only hating going on here is by Islanders fans.
This was a thread between a Flyers center and an Islanders center. How it turned into an "Attack the Rangers" thread is beyond me.

Before we get into "Tavares AINECZOMGBBQ!!!!111!!one!! cause Tavares plays for a terrible team"....
Matt Moulson is easily a better goal scorer than Scott Hartnell. PA Parenteau produced more than anyone on Grioux's RW last year. I don't see where team comes into play.
You need depth to score, if you're a one line team, (Which you could argue the Islanders are), it's far easier to shut you down. The Flyers had 3 scoring lines last season, the Islanders at best had 1 1/2.
I'll take Tavares, they're on a similar level now but I expect Tavares to take off in the next two years, when I think he'll either be the best player in the league or 1A/1B with someone.
